My daughter and I used Google maps to take us to ā€œBurks Farmsā€ upon arriving at 5000 US Hwy 69 we found a produce stand that seemed a little less inviting than the bright welcoming sunflowers we had previously seen on FB smiling at us as if they were the happiest thing on this entire planet! Well, with a little investigating we found the smiling faces of the owners of the ever so happy sunflowers just a little ways up the road! Low and behold, there was field of bright yellow and vivacious orange sunflowers smiling down on us from the heavens just behind them and their adorable white farmhouse with black shutters. These are the nicest hardest working folks you’ll meet! If you’re from the area, you’ll know them. If you’re city folks like us, it may take you a minute to realize they now operate from the farmhouse. It’s set in the beautiful hills of Cullman county, north Alabama, in Simcoe. Just pull in and find parking and get comfortable with nature. Have a walk through the field of flowers and be sure and take some home, that’s if you remembered to bring cash or check. Using a trust system, there’s a lock box you’ll place your money in. If you do happen to catch the owners out and about working, they’ll be glad to offer square for payment. It’s time and money well spent, I can assure you. We bumped into the owners William, and Claudia after a super long day they’d had at Festhalle Market. Alabama football was on ( Claudia was later watching the Texas game, when we came back a second time for more goodies, as she was born in Texas she has to root her team on as well) in our state it’s a cardinal sin to interrupt someone watching their team play football!!! I explained how disappointed I was that they had sold out of the gorgeous arrangements I’d seen on FB, and y’all… this sweet lady changed her clothes, put on shoes and jumped in the truck to go a little ways down the street to ā€œthe farmā€ to pick flowers, and told me she’d have them ready in a jiffy. William offered to go cut me some corn stalks for our fall display we were building back in the city. I ran a couple errands and retuned to find several of these gorgeous bouquets along with a fence line of beautiful cornstalks tied perfectly to spread and fan at the top and bottom for my display. Her bouquets are like something right out of a southern living magazine!!! These folks stopped what they were doing after a long hard day of work, and put together a little piece of heaven in the fall for me to bring from their farm home to mine in the city. Now every time I walk past these big blooms smiling at me I’m so grateful for these folks hard work and tremendous effort to share their joy!!! So I’d say if you’re anywhere in the area, during our ā€œhappy fall y’allā€ season (also known as ā€œRoll Tideā€ season) stop by their farmhouse, the white one with the black shutters in Simcoe, and grab yourself some of these smiles to take home with you. The flowers stay fresh for days and days and they make wonderful gifts to brighten someone else’s day. The pumpkins were gorgeous, we took home a little white one because it was priced at $3 and I was determined to spend every cent of the cash I happened to have on hand. The mums are great and there’s also a selection of potted houseplants that every house needs at least one of, to bring life into their home. You’ll for sure leave happy after a visit to the farm, the farmhouse or seeing them at Festhalle!!! Five stars to some good ole county folk in Simcoe, Alabama. Roll Tide!! …. Oh, and go Texas!!!! šŸ˜‰šŸ˜šŸ©¶šŸ¤ā¤ļøšŸŒ»šŸŒ»šŸŒ»šŸŒ»šŸšŸšŸ‚

We found this place in search of sunflowers (which were gorgeous), but the owners actually stopped by and gave us a full tour. We were able to purchase a bucket of strawberries (which were delicious), but much of their produce is sold from the Festhalle throughout the week. I'd definitely recommend stopping by for pictures and seasonal goods if you're...

I once came by lookin' fer berries but let me tell ya, you ain't never had no strawberries as sweet as these. I lost tracka time pickin' and hollerin', but luckily, I noticed over yonder the nice colorful flower patch. I need to get some of these flowers to plant for my bees. I just ain't sure I can do...
