I have been going to the lion potter since 2017. I remember my first stop- coming up from Virginia to visit my family in York, seeing the old bikes with hand written signs from the highway. They made me smile. One trip I decided to stop with no expectations of what I would find.
Beautiful handcrafted pottery displayed in an old farm house. Not only was the pottery indoors, but displayed throughout the property.
In addition to the gallery you’ll be delighted by the farm stand. Fresh, seasonal, local products, many of which grown on their property. If the produce isn’t something they grow themselves, it’s sourced locally. The peaches and strawberries are like none I’ve ever tasted. I’m not a fan of asparagus but my family loves it, the asparagus this year was exceptional. Expect to have a snack while you’re there- I recently learned I like plums when offered to try one. They also carry locally made gourmet cheeses, honey, flower seeds, herbs, and more.
You’ll find a field of flowers for fresh cut bouquets. The teddy bear sunflowers are absolutely stunning. Fluffy, fuzzy, and lasted for weeks!
The family and owners are one of a kind, I have never met a nicer group of people. So incredibly talented as well.
I have made a habit of stopping every time I visit my family, which lately has been at least once a month. I’m always greeted with a big hello. They take time to talk to you, to get to know you. I even save the produce cartons to bring back so I have a reason to stop. My first question is always- What’s good this week? The answer is always an enthusiastic- EVERYTHING!!!!! Of course it is, it’s farm fresh.
I still have the first mug I purchased years ago. I love it and it’s my go-to for tea or if I want to pace myself on coffee. The dimples in the sides are unique and the glaze design is my favorite. I added to the collection last week. Same color glaze: different style, different shape, and a bit bigger. Everything about the new one is perfect, shape, handle size. The bottom perfectly measures out flavor syrup, then I fill with coffee just below the top flare, and add a splash of half and half. The top flare makes the cup easy and comfortable to hold and the handle is perfect. There’s nothing quite like waking up early in the morning to brew a fresh pot of coffee (or tea) with your favorite mug to watch the sunrise with your pups.
Every piece is carefully and thoughtfully crafted. Don’t be afraid to take your time picking out the right one for you. It took 3 stops for me to pick out the new mug.

Read moreThe signs-on-bikes caught my attention from the highway. I'd recently broken a pottery mug that I used for a couple decades, so I was delighted to see that there were so many mugs to choose from, and several designs have multiples so you can make a set.
The potters son was running the shop - a two-story house - and was kind enough to tell me about his parents' artistic process. I purchased a mug that he labeled as an experiment, but I feel really lucky to have happened upon such a nice and unique cat mug. (He said it was the only one.)
I also picked up some herbal tea and handmade felted soap, something I'd never heard of before.
They also had local produce and other food item's available.
I'm really glad I stopped and look forward to loving my mug for many...
Read moreYou NEED to stop by this place if you love supporting local businesses and kind people! It has been an absolute favorite since I discovered it last year. They offer fresh apples, fruits, beeries, cheeses and jams from local farmers and the Amish. The family who owns this place are some of the kindest people I have ever met.
The owner makes pottery and the house is filled with plenty of cups and art work to purchase. They have a wide variety of apples and other produce from local farmers and they're always delicious! They have a large selection of at least 15 cheeses that are made by Amish families. They have local honey. Home made jams inside that are absolutely delicious! I recommend getting yourself a jar of the chocolate raspberry jam (It might be a...
