The perfect weekend getaway! Only 2 hours from Pittsburgh PA 🏞️ #rockygapresort #pennsylvaniagetaway #pittsburghpa #weekendgetaway
Claire WithLoveClaire WithLove
A lovely getaway hotel with Adirondack chairs near the lake, kayaking and paddle boating, golf, spa, smoke-free casino, and comfortable rooms. The room was clean and comfortable with a reading chair and footstool, mini-fridge, coffee maker with Caribou coffee in a plastic tray and sealed pouch. Lipton tea. The bathroom had white and grey marble in the shower and H2O bath products. The bathroom only allowed one person at a time, unless the other one was showering. There is a safe in the bedside tables. The smoke-free casino (smoking outside in a covered area next to the front door and two rooms in the casino) had one table of several card games (3 card Poker, Blackjack, etc), craps, roulette, and a number of slot machines from penny to high roller ones. The staff was friendly and professional. Drinks were $10. If you join the True Rewards casino club, you get a $5 in free slot pay and if you acquire 40 points before midnight, you get a virtual scratch off ticket (under Promotions on the kiosk) where I won $10 in food credit. You can get free hotel nights even at the lowest level if you play enough. You need 5,000 in points/$ to get to the next tier. There is an indoor pool which allows you to walk down into the pool then swim out a passage way to a bigger area. The pool is 3 to 4 feet deep, and there is a good hot tub - nice temperature with jets that stay on and don't require you to push a button. The main pool is under a glass ceiling which retracts to allow fresh air and sun in during the nicer days. There are small towels near the pool. They ran out after we took our towels but were later replaced. The Signatures Bar and Grille had big hamburgers, pizza, and super jumbo size pretzels with cheese and whole grain mustard. It was a good place to sit outside, and the food was good. The Lakeside Grill is the lovely restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and a bar next to the lake. The great items were: Mai Tai, the sourdough bread and whole grain bread basket, the beet salad, and the huge (4) shrimp cocktail. They were some of the biggest shrimp I have seen. The French Onion soup, hamburger, crab cake, salmon entrees were fine. I would avoid the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer, macaroni and cheese (tasted like soap) and the Blistered Brussel Sprouts (soggy and chew,. not crisp). There is a Cracker Barrell in Cumberland, MD if you want a good breakfast or something more affordable for dinner. Check-in is 4 pm; Check out is 11 am. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and thought the hotel on the lake was a nice hidden gem in Maryland.

This is a very nice hotel that seems well run. This a wonderful place with an even better location, right on the lake. With the mountains as a backdrop. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the beds comfortable! We were there at the peak of leaf season and were not disappointed. The lake water level was down, but the water was crystal clear. Trails and paths everywhere for bikes or hiking.

My review for Rocky Gap Resort and Casino. I will start with this. I was not made aware of this until my husband was speaking to me when I was writing this review. He stated that when we were checking in, he asked about discounts for military service. He said he was told that they could not apply it since he booked our reservation online, which gave zero option for such a discount, and next time, we should call and make reservations to get the discount. Now, what should have taken place was for that staff member to get a member of management and make it happen. And had I known this and my husband not telling me in hopes of not ruining my vacation, I can tell you for fact that we would not have even spent one night there! Here is where my knowledge of what I experienced starts. After checking in and heading to our room, we were immediately pounced on for having a small cooler with water and gatorade and lemonade and coffee creamer. Their signs state, "No outside alcohol " We did not have alcohol and showed them that. We were allowed to unload the items and take them to the room, but not in the small cooler. We had to take that back out to our vehicle. Upon checking out, a man walked through the lobby, leaving with the same size cooler we were not permitted to have. Where was the cooler cop when he checked in?! Bad first impression. The room was not impressive at all for the price. Mattress was lumpy and pretzel pieces from previous visitors still on carpet. Bathroom design is so ridiculous, no door or curtain for shower, no place to hang towel or wash cloth or shower supplies other than this little corner piece, the size of a soapdish, ok enough about the room. Let's move on to the restaurants. Except for the chicken wings and ultimate nachos, everything else we ordered and paid good money for was absolutely disgusting and poor quality for the price they were asking. We never mind paying good money for excellent food. This was far from that! Now, onto other areas of the resort. There were signs in all areas about risk and children and the use of sauna and pool, etc. There were children in the hot tub, too young to be in there and NO adults anywhere in sight. Yes, the signs were hung, but no enforcement, for a potentially dangerous violation, and yet we were embarrassed in public for a cooler! The beach portion, which we thought was going to be cool, was anything but. I know the geese are protected. They are in our state as well. However, having to dodge goose crap is not welcoming. We did have fun on the pontoon paddle boat. The young lady working that day was very friendly and accommodating. The time spent in the casino was fun, the machines were super tight, and that should be changed. I'm not exactly sure how long this place has been around, but there is a serious issue with staff and expectations for a resort with a supposed 4.5 star rating. We actually only encountered 4 staff members who actually seemed to recognize our existence and gave top-notch service. I'm actually gobsmacked that anyone would be a returning guest! This experience was a 1 🌟 at best. Hopefully, the owner will read this review and take it seriously, and make the needed changes. It does have potential for being a pleasant getaway, but not without recognizing and treating your guests with the respect they deserve for spending good money and not being treated as such. Anyone who has given a review higher than the lowest 🌟 for this past week is NOT being honest! And I'm positive that nothing will change or be addressed based on these AI ridiculous responses. I think we have told you what needs to be addressed to possibly improve this resort. However, seeing these AI responses tells me everything I need to know, that nothing will change, and that we don't really...

I’ve been coming to Rocky gap for years it was a place where my dad and I met since he lives in Maryland and I live in Ohio . I love the place and now that my dad has passed and is buried in little orleans I come to visit his grave and stay here . But the last two trips we’ve come it’s been horrible ! . The time before last they messed our booking up and gave us double beds which was supposed to be a deluxe king room. At that time masked were required which we wore. And every time you turned around they were telling me to put my mask over my nose which I understand but when you’re drinking it’s not that easy to keep them up and annoying. At 230 am there was no one in the casino and the security came up to us and gave us another hard way to go because of our mask and threatened to call cops on us and made us go to our room like we were children. What a joke !! Ok then we just went there on the 5th of feb to visit my dad again and when they sent us our comp room we reserved it but were told they had none so my wife want to speak to a host . They had a marketing manager call us and he actually got us booked with a deluxe king bed well 2 days before we were headed there they called and said we didn’t have a comp room which was a lie . So the lady said she would take care of it like she was doing us a favor even though our room was already booked . So when we were a hour away they called 3 times making sure we were coming and that’s never happened before. When we get there our room was again a double bed room we were disappointed at that point .. this time no mask were required. But the staff was very unfriendly only nice people were the bar help. We spent atleast 2k on slots and didn’t get any bonuses or even enough money to keep playing what a joke there machines are probably set at .01% .. then later In the evening when we wanted to eat all they had was old deli sandwiches so we decided to go to Sheetz and eat came back to our room and ate . Then we came back down to gamble again which it was probably 4 am at that point . My wife don’t drink but I do and nearly 2 1/2 hrs after the bar was closed they refused to let me in saying I was too drunk and stumbling which was a total lie .. they said come back in a hour and again sent us to our room like children.. what a joke the security there is like wanna be barnie fifes and the girls that work security are Karen’s . It’s very sad how this place has been ruined when it used to be one of my favorites.. if I were you I’d go somewhere else you’ll be broke when you leave and feel stripped of your constitutional rights .. what a joke . I may never come back ever !!!! They should take this review and straighten up this casino we’ve spent 10s of thousands here but they can shove it now I’ll go bigger and better places 🤮🤬 Came back again July 4th weekend 2025 and the place is falling apart .. rotted wood right outside our window with bird poop everywhere. The lady at the lobby bar tried charging me $4 for a Pepsi I said I thought they were free she said only if you’re actively playing. Well I just was spent my ticket of 700 just 2 minutes before she still wouldn’t give me a Pepsi. Shame on her because her attitude might just have lost my wife and I for good and we’ve spent a few thousand every time we...

Teresa C.|4 reviews|3 hours ago|New|Family|Very rarely do I leave bad reviews for businesses as I know we all have bad days and write it off to that. Unfortunately, I can't say that this time.|Our family was in town for an immediate family member's funeral. We booked 4 rooms for 2 nights. Obviously there were many of us, including 4 children 10, 4, 3, and infant.|We began with trying to grab dinner at Signatures, a restaurant at the "resort". Other family from the area came to meet us for dinner, we were a large party and had given them a head's up that we were coming and that there were many of us. We had to wait for a table, completely understandable and expected. And no problem. The problem comes as after we were seated none of the servers would wait on us. They didn't want the "big" table. A young lady who said she had never been a server volunteered to manage our table. I went to the manager and asked why it was allowed for the servers to refuse our table and in summary we were told "not my fault". After finally being able to place our order, the electricity went out.|Assuming a generator would kick on to power the "resort"; no, that did not happen. We sat in the darkness expecting it to come back on. After being there for 2 hours, we left. Going upstairs to our room the electric was out even in the hotel! No light, no A/C, no fridge (necessary for medication.). Which brings me back to if this is a "resort", why would it not be prepared for this. However the casino had full power to continue on.|Our family sat in the lobby as it was cooler there than in our rooms. There were many people doing the same. It was 3 AM before we gave up and had to try to get a few hours sleep before the funeral. During our time in the lobby, the kids were exhausted and the 3 year old fell asleep in the corner beside our chairs. A security guard actually walked over to us and advised that there was no sleeping in the lobby and to remove him. I'm going to leave that right there.|We had no choice but to stay where we were because we had already paid and there were no vacancies for 4 rooms at any hotel we called. Power was restored at around 8 AM. We paid them to sit in the lobby overnight paying ridiculous prices to get something to drink and watch the attempt of our 3 year old grandchild being kicked out because he finally fell asleep and it wasn't in the dark, 80 degree room, that had been paid for. I could add to this , but am stopping at this point.|Losing power is not anyone's fault. My issue is that you advertise this place as a "resort". If this were a resort, a plan would be in place to continue to run for your guests. So no ....this is not a "resort". The entire time was just a mess. In a nutshell, staff, including management, are rude, unprofessional, and honestly would not be employees that would represent a company that I owned.|Ultimately, no I wouldn't recommend to stay or eat at this "resort". Our family certainly won't be back.|Rooms: 3/5 | Service: 1/5 | ...
