I was in town visiting my mom for the week and 3/14 (PI Day) rolled around and my daughter insisted on a pie to celebrate the occasion. So many great choices; which one to choose? I asked a couple of nice ladies in the store if they were to buy a pie, which one would they buy. They both said they'd buy The Village Pie Maker. Hmmmm what flavor? One said cherry, the other rhubarb/strawberry or mix berry. I settled on peach as peaches always remind me of my grandmother, Marian Davis. She always made peaches with real cream for us kids when we were growing up and Grandma was coming to dinner.
I purchased this pie uncooked and frozen, followed the directions to a T and for the first time in my life I love pie. It was pretty, perfectly golden across the top. We didn't even wrap the edges. This is the perfect pie.
I don't know why I didn't like pie before! =)
Thank you Town & Country Market for the great selection, and to The Village Pie Maker for the delicious pie! Four generations of ladies sat around a table sharing your pie and...
Read moreThis is my home town that I grew up in and I still visit occasionally. This is a fairly impressive grocery store with a very long history of doing a very good job serving the grocery needs of this small town. They provide a few non grocery items as well. Given large distances from their suppliers and this smaller sized community, those factors are likely causing a lower volume of business. And yet, surprisingly, the prices and quality are actually better than expected. If one uses common sense, you would understand how hard it can be to manage a store in a very rural community with limited clientel. This store is a gem that the community and surrounding agricultural area appear to appreciate and hopefully will continue to support. It provides good convenience compared to driving an hour to larger markets. This store really offers good products at reasonable prices for most grocery items. Name brands can be expensive but, again, this is a small rural town. So watch for sales as those are very competitive, especially on their "generic...

I was told if you need anything they don't have they will do their best to get it for you. They do need plenty of time to get it. Produce is 50/50. Sometimes it is great the next time you want the same thing the quality...
