I've been going to the institute for approx 22 yrs; I learned about it word of mouth (before social media / Google). The price attracted me because at the time, my second child was ready for his first hair cut; taking my children with me to my hair dresser was costing over $100. Soon after the birth of my first child I great my hair out to an all one length style and kept my daughter the same style so I wasn't too concerned with trying it out for a dead end trim; I was a little concerned about my son's cut turning out nice tho because he inherited my thick curly hair (so a mess up would be harder to fix). The first appts for all 3 of us came to an approx cost of just over $25 with the tips; the charge was $5 each for a cut and $1.50 extra for blow dry. Although none of us blew dry our hair, I had it done to assess the skill. Needless to say, I haven't been to a regular salon since and I've only ever had one problem with any of our cuts which was addressed under the direction of the supervising teacher. I had an injury some years ago which has caused my spine to tip so the cut in question was slightly uneven on my tipped side. Even though I always mention the issue with the students, it's not a typical problem for even a seasoned stylist to have experience with so it's not fair to take off a star. All customers need to realize that everyone learns better by doing, which is the purpose of the institute opening it's doors to the public. I've since had another daughter; the 3 of us have each tried at least one style over the years that we were all happy with. Costs have naturally risen over the years, but it's still much cheaper than a regular salon charges today. As of 2019, I believe a wash, cut and blow dry is just $11 ($9 without blow drying). Give it a try and put the savings / difference...
Read moreIf you’re considering enrollment to The Salon Professional Academy or a parent considering enrolling your child into this establishment, please read this. I was a student enrolled into the Esthetics Program November of 2024 (expected to graduate April of 2025) On March 7th (16 weeks into the 20 week program), I was terminated from the program. I had an ongoing issue with another student whom consistently displayed acts of inappropriate behavior towards myself and my classmates. As a SA victim, this behavior was extremely uncomfortable for me and I had addressed the student. After doing so, I was called to speak with the Cosmetology Lead Educator- LaDawn Chandler “Tha Hair Diva” who immediately addressed me with an aggressive and unprofessional demeanor. I wasn’t permitted to speak as she would cut me off and raise her voice if I tried to do so. Upon each attempt to respond, I was threatened with a higher consequence. Initially being sent home for the day, to suspension for 1 day then 2 days. I stated this conversation was highly unprofessional nor productive and I would like to speak to someone else, for that- I was terminated from the program. Upon attempt to remove myself from this highly escalated situation, I was chased down the hall while being screamed on! I have never experienced anything like this and I’m highly concerned as to how she’s employed in a position to lead anyone. I am very limited as to what I can say as I don’t want this review being taken down, however, as a student who experienced the extremely unprofessional, unorganized and hostile environment of this school first-hand, PLEASE...
Read moreI'm making this review because I feel people should be told the truth about the reality about enrolling here, the program in itself and the job opportunities available once you complete the program. As an Esthetician that was enrolled in the program here, I'm disappointed with how the school lied about the "plethora of jobs" in this industry. The school is pushing out way too many estheticians and there's not enough jobs out here to support the influx they are pushing out. After 2 years in this industry the jobs the school said were there were infact not there. I did not have the best experience while enrolled here. During my time at school in the level 2 portion of the program we were left to sit on the floor on the tile because they took the chairs and tables out of the level 2 room (don't ask me why because I didn't know why they would do something like that either and yes they were aware of this and did nothing for over a month). They have since put chairs and desks back in around the last week we had left of the program. After paying over 14 grand I was expecting better treatment from the school. I wouldn't recommend this place for education ever. It seems all they care about is their bottom dollar. Don't get me wrong they taught us the bare minimum just so we could get our licenses but if you are dropping over 14 thousand dollars on an education you expect the education to match the cost of the program. If you plan on enrolling here please take my review into consideration before spending over 14 thousand dollars on...
