I was a good customer, I was there for 2.5 years. Be warned for many reasons: There were many times the gate was broken and left open waiting for repair or closed so we had no access. They raised the rent/lease amount after the first year consistently. For a 10 x 20 unit, it was 165. as advertised even now in 2020. Check it out. bait and switch? I started in 2018 at that rate. Then the second year, after begin on auto pay as well, the fee went up every quarter. After a year and a half I was up to 210.00!!
This was not pointed out in the contract when in person in the office with Robin, so must have been in the very fine print.
The worst part...After ending my contract since 2018, I called the office and let them know a week ahead. The contract forms were released through online signed forms software that Life Storage uses to end the contract, on a Wednesday before end of month. Confirmation of the signing was also received. Move out was following Monday. Swept perfectly clean. The condition upon my move in should be noted; previous occupant had spilled oil or gas, which is prohibited supposedly...and the management had spread sand all over the unit floor I had to move into in 2018 . As a single mother with expensive on-the-clock hired movers, I could not afford to make them wait till i had cleaned it up!! (agreement was it was supposed to be clean) so I had to put my items from my 4 bedroom home unanticipated divorce/house sale into this dirty unit. Office was closed! You have no choice at this point. I let this go only because I was stuck... but now that I was moving it out I did the right thing by the contract for this next step in the move-out process. I swept the unit very clean - even all that old sand that was not my doing. None of the units are mouse proof either, by the way, I lost 2 expensive oriental carpets. Wait, there is more. On Monday called office:. Why was my monthly payment deducted again? Whhat? Bear in mind the forms were sent in a week before and signatures done with their software and a confirmation. Also a phone conversation was had ahead of time with Robin, with a request to not deduct another payment due to move out and all legal contracts were signed. She said OK as long as forms signed and swept clean. Yes ma'am, all done as requested on my end. My 2 sons and I did 3 days of moving and got the job done. It is stressful enough to be moving again, but then this. Disgusting to say the least they way business was managed. Robin, the manager/owner says that she never recieved the signed forms initially upon first request for the refund, then states on Monday, a week after forms were submitted, that she will now submit a refund for the auto deduct that should have been cancelled, and this will take.....7 DAYS!!! It has now been 7 working days, and still no refund.
SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. As a single mom hardworking with 2 college students, now on unemployment due to Covid virus, the last thing anyone needs is to LEND MONEY to LIFE STORAGE while they collect storage rent from another person. Unit 356 . Danville NH Carey C. moved from Eliot Maine to Plaistow...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe will never rent form this company again. I understand that Extra has owned this location for only 2 of the last 3 years that we have rented but we have had problems the 2 years that they have owned it. We rent a storage unit in the winter to store 2 motorcycles. The space was rented from the 21st of the month to the 21st of the month for 4 months. Earlier in March one of the motorcycles came out to go to a motorcycle dealer for upgrades and maintain repairs leaving only one in the unit. That one was removed on March 20th in the evening and I called the location the morning of the 21st to tell them the unit was vacated. I was told they would go into the computer and mark it vacated and we were all set. On the 23rd I see a charge to my credit card for double the monthly cost of the unit which we shouldn't have bee charged because the unit was vacated on time. I called the location and they told me it was never marked vacated and now they have to go make sure the unit is empty and they will refund my money which will take 7-10 days. I live on a disability income ( paid once a month) and now at the end of the month with little to no money left have to wait and not pay a bill of buy groceries. I called the Corporate office and was treated like a child and they really could have cared less and blew me off. Was I angry , yes , but not reason to disrespect me and talk down to me . I was told to keep it professional and. in return I told her I would if the employees were professional and knew how to do there damn job entering one thing into the computer....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a long review but you should know. before renting... Clean buildings but I didnāt appreciate the last minute hidden charges (Insurance fees $14, processing fees $28 and being REQUIRED to use their lock $20). Emptied out my unit and tried to contact Life Storage in Danville to terminate my contract. I called several times over a 2 day period and no one answered the phone or called back. I went to the website where it stated that I had to give them written notification of contract termination. Written notice had to be hand delivered to the office or faxed, however there is no fax # and I am too far away to hand deliver. Since I wasn't able to reach the Danville location, I tried to call their 24/7 Customer Service number "6" times. There was no answer and I received no call backs. I finally had to ask my elderly mother to go to the Danville location and ask them to call me. I then received a call from the manager "Robin" who told me that I would have to fill out the form and email it because they don't have a fax. She also felt the need to question me as to why I had paid in advance and explained that she would have to put in a request for a refund and it could take up to 30 days (and stated to my mother that they do not usually give refunds). None of which was explained to me when I rented the unit. If you are looking for ANY kind of customer service, this is not the place for you. I would actually recommend "Bluebird Self Storage" as I have had good luck with them...
