Purchased Medo (now Nitto) Piston LA-80BN Septic Air Pump back in Aug. 2020. Inquired about warranty and told if pump failed, WSS would send rebuild kit for repair. Pump failed after 8 months operation running 1.5psi aerator in 5ft water. Called in warranty claim and told to ship pump (at my cost) to WSS, so WSS could then ship pump to Nitto for evaluation to determine if warranty would be honored (as if I broke it). When asked about promised rebuild kit; told policy only applies to diaphragm pumps, then demanded email record (as proof) associated with conversation that occurred via phone. Called Nitto direct and told same outrageous warranty policy. Later read in pump service manual that piston and Teflon cylinders must be replaced every 12-24 months as 'routine maintenance'. This in spite of 2 year warranty and advertising claims of 5-9 years continuous operation. This expensive and technically involved piston and cylinder replacement is only described as 'regular maintenance' in brochures and videos. Poorly design pump and premature failure with light use. Distributor who told me what I wanted to here at time of sale, then something completely different when warranty claim initiated. Stuck with $250.00 pump that now produces nearly zero pressure, will have to repair myself to return to service. Just pure BS!
The comment entered below by owner is complete fabrication, I was not offered free kit by Nitto through WSS, and certainly never mentioned nor requested new pump. WSS never contacted Nitto on my behalf. The owner is a liar, submitting fully fabricated narrative to deflect negative feedback. Read moreMake sure you know exactly what you are ordering and all of you measurements are 100% accurate. Returning items will end up costing you almost as much, or more, than the original purchase price. Shipping items via UPS will cost you a lot more than it costs them to ship to you. It would be nice if they offered customers a way to use their corporate shipping rates for returns which would be less than half of retail rates. In general, I feel their return policy is pretty punitive; you not only have to pay for the return shipping (at retail rates), you also have to pay their original shipping charges plus a restocking fee (as much as 25%). Bottom line, make sure you understand their return policy, know exactly what you need, and don’t make any mistakes or you’ll end up paying dearly. I realize that their policy is documented in their website and I should have been more diligent looking for it before I placed an order, but I guess I am too used to working with Amazon to think of this in advance. Thant being said, I feel that their customer service reps should be a bit more forthcoming on all of the return fees when you call to get information on the return process. Nothing against the product they sell but because of their draconian return policy I would not do business with this...
Read moreThis seller sent me a pump that failed after 3 days. It is a very cumbersome and smelly install into a septic system. While they approved the refund in a timely manner, they went to great pains to convince me that the pump was defective and that I didn't know what I was doing. They sent me 3 offensive emails telling me that "it's OK to send the pump back, your float is probably bad." Obviously they are claiming that their pump is fine and that I'm incompetent and don't know how my system works. I wrote them and told them that the pump was getting electricity but not pumping. Before replacing this pump with a new one that I ordered again from them and is working fine, I turned the defective pump on and it did work again. So, clearly it may work intermittently - a pump that works intermittently is as bad as a pump that doesn’t work at all. I received a second email from the seller saying "We received the pump and tested it, and it works fine." Again, they are telling me that I don't know what I'm doing and that their "testing" protocol deems the pump fine. I am curious why they are so adamant that they are testing supposedly brand new pumps prior to sending them out - you be the judge, but be ready for a condescending fight if you try and return...
