My first business with Discount Carpet was to procure tile, grout, mortar etc. for our master bath project. I was doing all the work myself and we wanted to purchase through Virginia Tile again as was done for our kitchen project because we liked being able to visit their immensely stocked, well laid out showrooms and needed a retailer since VT doesn't sell direct. DC was very close by and I thought it would be good to support a local business. We mostly worked with Rick for this and it quickly became apparent that these were good folks to know. I got lots of good advice and help for my first tile job.
(Our kitchen was done by the worst hacks [entirely unrelated to Discount Carpet] who ruined fresh painted walls and did a poor job overall with many tiles having come loose since. This was why I wanted to the do the bath myself.)
When it came time to do the carpet in the master bedroom we knew we'd be hard pressed to do better than going back to Discount Carpet. Here we worked with both Gary and Rick. Once again we got lots of great advice to help make our selection and it was surprising how many samples are here. The showroom doesn't seem that big, but they make great use of the space to get you what need to decide. We went with Shaw brand carpet and had DC do the install. The installer was not fast, but he was very competent and took the time to do the job right. It was obvious he had pride in his work, much to our relief. We did have troubles with dye consistency from one edge of the roll to the other. Here's where Gary really stepped up to take care of us. It took 3 tries to get an invisible seam due to this dye problem from Shaw and I have no doubt Gary would have persisted further until we were satisfied somehow. It's unfortunate that this color was so difficult but we sure were glad to have Discount Carpet on our side of the battle.
We've got lots of house to go in our renovation work and we'll keep going back to Discount Carpet in the future. It's hard to find businesses that care this much. That they have very good pricing too is just...
Read moreWe couldn’t be happier with our new floor provided by Discount Carpet. When we were deciding what material to put down, Gary was very helpful in helping us select the quality of vinyl flooring. He gave us 4 samples to take home, and we were able to make our choice after carefully considering its fit with our counters and walls. He also helped us pick out the tiles and grout to replace the existing tile above our kitchen counters. When it came to installation, Ken and his crew were fantastic. They had to take out two different types of tiles set in concrete. They then put down 2 layers of subfloor before putting on the final layer of flooring. They were meticulous in their work and always cheerful. They were at our house for 2 weeks. They cleaned up all the material used every day before they left. They moved our heavy furniture around and placed sliders on the bottom so that we could move it around. The floor looks fantastic. Discount Carpet also gives you a cleaning mop with wet and dry cloths to make sure the floor stays looking good. Finally, Gary had vent covers made that matched the color of the flooring. It was the final touch to a great job. When two didn’t fit exactly right, he quickly came out to the house and adjusted them. We would highly recommend Discount Carpet for flooring and tile work. Everything about the whole process went smoothly and we are very pleased that we...
Read moreOur experiences have been very positive. We have had ceramic tile, slate, carpet and vinyl laminate put in and the products plus service from the installers has been great. In fact, we had to ask them to come back after two years to re-install our kitchen vinyl because we were remodeling the kitchen and took out two walls, as well as putting in new cabinets and island. We had ordered (based on Gary's estimate) two additional boxes of tiles and then when we saw how many areas needed "fixes", we were worried we did not have enough. No need to worry -- Randy pulled up the older tiles and put in new where needed and reused pieces when possible. All fixed and looks like new and saved...
