Definition of highway robbery. I bought a watermelon that was bad on the inside. Not sweet, mushy, gelatinous. I still figured I would give it another shot because I am well aware that unfortunately that can be the luck of the draw when buying produce. So I bought another watermelon today. I get home, it's the same as before. Rotten on the inside. I call to ask if I can get a refund. She says yes if you bring back the watermelon I will refund you. I got the watermelon out of the trash, brought it in, she says "oh I can't refund you, you have to take something of equal value". So we settled on an 8$ loaf of cranberry bread. Local here (Pittsville) this place has never had the friendliest staff, nor do they know they're regulars. But what I witnessed on my most recent visit left me speechless. A teenager was helping an elderly man remove his wheelchair from a van and helped the elderly man inside. While I was browsing, I overheard one of the staff say "sorry we don't have a restroom" just curious i looked over and this elderly man had the saddest look of disappointment, the staff read his disappointment and reiterated again "sorry we just don't have public restrooms" I get it, but I won't be coming back or sending anyone here again. So.....we've lived in Maryland for three weeks now and everytime we pass this stand we say "we need to stop there!" Today was the day...yay!!! Was a lovely experience. The owners are very sweet, informative and the stand/establishment is very quaint. We got to witness a baby Robin take their first flight. Silly I know but sweet. Okay back to the review.
