tl;dr - Everything about our experience was bad, start to finish. Bad service, missed deadlines, shoddy work.
We showed up to our appointment to get some items altered, and the store was closed. A seamstress came out of the back when I knocked, and said she would call Ms. Betty, and we could wait.
She showed up, marked the alterations needed, and we made an appointment for pick up.
When I arrived that day, having driven into town specifically for that purpose, I was told the items were not done, along with a big story about how busy they are. (Not that I have ever seen anyone in the store). After some back and forth, she said she would drop the items off at my house that evening, since it was on her way.
Thinking about it later, I was confused, since I would have no way to pay (with a bank card) if she came by. I messaged her and asked about it, offering instead to come by a few days later when I had to be in town again.
My doctor called and switched my appointment a day earlier, so I messaged again, asking if I could get the order then. I was told that it would not be ready! A silly message exchange ensued, wherein I asked how it could have been dropped off at my house on Monday evening, but would not be available for pickup on Wednesday.
By now exasperated, I informed her that I would just come by and pick up my items on Wednesday, and go get the alterations done elsewhere.
I was handed a bag of my items, and that was that. I didn't realize until I got home that... The alterations had been done!
However...
The work was awful! Not just not good, but done so ridiculously that the clothing is damaged, and can't be easily repaired.
For instance: Taking in jeans, making darts in the back that are just lumpy gathers. Taking in a drawstring waist skirt, and just (apparently) sewing up the sides, which cut the drawstring and sewed closed the drawstring's channel, in multiple places.
So, not just wasted my time, and caused me a lot of frustration... But actually ruined at least one item...
Read moreWe had our first visit to Betty’s Boutique recently because my daughter needed her Prom Dress altered. I was considerably apprehensive because my child is exceedingly particular (imagine that)!! She is very slender and often times cannot find a dress that fits her properly!!
I AM SO VERY PLEASED WITH HOW THIS PROCESS WENT!! The dress turned out beyond perfect! The fit is precise and there aren’t any noticeable areas on the dress that show the modifications!! Talk about a relief!!
Additionally, the staff are so very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. While there were several other guests present during our appointment, the employees were so exceptional at catering to all of us. They worked really well together and multi tasked with ease. You do not commonly see this anymore at businesses.
Furthermore, our overall alteration experience was organized, efficient, and affordable. My expectations were greatly surpassed to say the very least!!!
Lastly, I highly recommend supporting this small business. You will not be disappointed or swept to the side. The store owner and her assistants are truly spectacular and very tenured at their trade!!
