Scratch and Dent Appliances of Iowa — Local services in Des Moines

Purchased an LG washer/drier in Jan. 2024 w/ a warranty. 2 weeks in the machine needed a repair due to the inside of the washer run being unaligned. The first suggestion was to take it apart ourselves and try to align it. We did not believe this was fair, due to being within the 30 day period of purchase and purchase of extended warranty. Someone did come out and repair. 5 months later the machine stopped draining and flashed error codes. Due to living 40 miles away the warranty company does not have a local rep and scratch & dent would not come help. We need have to pay out of pocket for both an initial quote and for the repairs. These costs are reimbursed up to $100 for quote and debatably up to what failure is causing the issue. If I could purchase elsewhere I would.

Edit: you can see by the response given by Scratch and Dent that there is deception and poor customer service. Please tell the truth in your replies. I am not skilled with repairing technical issues like an LG washing machine and would not call just to say I will fix it myself. This was a suggestion given by Scratch and Dent. We did explain that the warranty company advised calling Scatch and Dent come to repair since they are familiar & have been before. We would pay out of pocket and then be reimbursed. The response was that they are not allowed since it’s past 30 days and to find someone local.

We had a very positive experience! I found the perfect washer & dryer set within about 3 minutes at a FABULOUS price and the rest was painless! The sales associate took the time to give me a few pointers which I genuinely appreciated as I haven’t owned a washing machine with an agitator in over 10 years. But the best customer service came 2 weeks later. I thought something was wrong with the washer, so I called & left a message (they hadn’t opened yet) and got an immediate call back upon them opening. They kindly walked me through troubleshooting… and honestly it was entirely user error 😂 but they were so encouraging & helpful through that process that I’m confident they truly mean it when they say they stand behind their sales! I went in just to look around for a washer and see what was there. John was so helpful and accommodating. He showed me what he had that would work for me and explained all the differences. The prices were excellent and the delivery was affordable and very fast. I had it at my house in no time. The driveway delivery only was a slight inconvenience but for the price of the delivery it was totally worth it. Other places don’t deliver at all and out source the service and it costs 3 times the amount plus an extra in home/installation fee.
