The truth about Catalina Spa. You can get a FREE night stay just for writing a 5-star review on Google or Trip advisor. Guests are compensated for doing that, where do you think all the 5-star reviews came from? If not a FREE night a greatly reduced rate. You can get a greatly reduced rate while your neighbor pays full price, another reason to write a 5-star review. Make sure that you ask for Christina, she is the only that can make these amazing deals. Christina has “been given liberties by the boss” (those are her own words) to make great deals. If the other Guest Services Representatives make any sort of deals with the guests, they are reprimanded. Some sites get cable some sites don’t. You will be told that you must reset your TV, but that is just another excuse to get you to think that you MIGHT get cable. If you have a high def antennae you might get the local over the air channels. It doesn’t matter whether you pay for cable or not, that is just the way it is so if you are able to get cable at your site, great. If you don’t get cable, oh well, that is what you will be told. The resort owns the cable system and outside cable companies won’t even touch it. Wi-Fi is another horrible story. You will hear lies that the system is being upgraded or has been upgraded and that Wi-Fi is working throughout the park or at the club houses. Some people will be lucky enough to get Wi-Fi, others won’t. If you have a hot spot or jet pack that is the only way you are going to get a decent internet connection. If you work from your RV, DO NOT pay for the Wi-Fi, the outages are frequent (almost daily) and the speed is horrible. You got a confirmation e mail with a confirmed site, wrong again. Your site can be moved at any time before you arrive and even as you are sitting at the desk checking in, even though you can produce documentation that you were given a confirmed site. Septic connections may or may not fit into the in-ground connection so be prepared to find a way to keep your septic hose in place. If you are handicapped and request a handicapped sight, you may or may not (most likely not) be able to get a handicapped sight. There was even one guest that was handicapped (even had the placard to prove it) that was denied a handicapped site. Why because the RV her and her husband had was older and it would have been near the main road. The General Manager only wants new, shiny and expensive-looking RV’s near the road to give a resort like appearance. If you have an older RV, no matter what your confirmation e mail states, you are going in a back row, away from everything so that no one can see your RV because that is the General Manager’s policy. No old RV’s anywhere that can be seen from the road. If the electric breaker trips in your RV and you trip the breaker at the power pedestal as well, be prepared for the whole row of RV’s that you are in to be without power until the problem is repaired. There will be no warning the power will just go out until it is repaired. Bring a lot of leveling blocks because most of the sites, despite being sand, are extremely unlevel. The work environment for work campers and employees at Catalina Spa and RV Resort has become so volatile and hostile that work campers are terminating their contract early and leaving their positions. 6 have left their positions so far and more to come in the very near future. The current management and the owner are aware of this issue and choose to ignore or take actions to resolve the cause of this problem. Catalina Spa and RV Resort presents a very appealing outward presentation to guests; however, the guests are ignorant to the truth about what really goes on here. Despite extensive documentation presented to the owner concerning the extensive violations of his own company policies, illegal business transactions, false promises to guests and violation of federal law, the owner REFUSED to take any action to correct these issues. Is this REALLY where you...
Read moreWell we stayed at Catalina Spa RV Resort in Feb. 2018 for a week, it was ok then, nothing special. At the time you could tell that the establishment was under good direction and leadership. The employees were happy and helpful. So I decided to return in Oct. 2018 as a "Workamper" in the security department. They had just hired a new General Manager for the property. The dirty little secrets about this place would make people run if known. The entire six weeks I was there, the wi-fi did not work, plus it is way to expensive. The cable, if it worked at all, would provide approx. six channels. The bathrooms in the clubhouse are closed and have been for months for remodeling. From the day I arrived (Oct 21) till I departed Dec. 4, 2018, my sites sewer vent pipe was broken. I asked and filed out paperwork request for repairs four times, see the photos. The fumes coming out of the septic sewer system was not just awful but unhealthy. The management claims they want to bring this resort to a 5 star level, look at the posted pictures and make up your own mind if achievable. It is not a bad RV park, a lot of activities, but will never be a 5 star. The lots are not level nor clean from foliage and trimmings. The sewer connections are unacceptable, sewer hose and fittings are held in place by placement of a rock or sandbag. The trash dumpsters are always over flowing, two dumpsters for a park with 500 sites, get real. I chose to leave my Workamper position prior to my Apr. 2019 agreement end date. I made this decision after "Christina" and another staff member was involved in a disagreement. She then in a fit of anger, drove into my golf cart striking my foot. I can not go into details as this is an active investigation by Riverside Sheriff's Office. The Gen. Mgr. refused to take action against her for this action. I will never return to this establishment as long as I live. It is really sad because there are some really nice, good Workampers and staff. Most are really upset and considering leaving as I did.
Another Post; Vicki Collins reviewed Catalina Spa RV Resort -- 1 star Here's my experience with Catalina SPA and rv resort in desert hot springs, California. We were confirmed via phone conversation with Ravina, office personnel for March 15, 2017, park model. Confirmation was for $325.00 for 10 nights under our relatives contract. My husband & relative paid the $325, but an hour later received a call that wasn't correct and we owed another $325. Upon visiting the office now matter how we explained the phone confirmation & let them know that was breach of contract they weren't going to hold up their end of said contact. The park model #477, left a lot to be desired. There holes in the walls, filth under the bed, cups with lipstick, hole in the bathtub, a huge hole beside the stove & in the wall of the cabinet next to the stove that cold air blew out of when the AC was running. There was another office personnel who couldn't mind her own business and was so sure she was cute and litle, but was a pain in the backside, her name is Christina. She is not friendly to people and even called John Moore Mr. Collins at the bbq one night. I wanted to tell her she wasn't as smart as she thought she as cuz he wasn't Mr. Collins. Please people do not go to this place, I am not the only one who is displeased with them, people share a lot of information while bobbing around the pool. the new owners began a 'remodel' on the lower pool and club house, however, their remodel was turning into a build and their permits were not in order, therefore, construction...
Read moreAbsolutely do not stay in the cottages! And don't drink the water unless you have your own sanitary filter, and I mean sanitary not just a 'filter'. ||Day 1 - Arrive late afternoon with 3 friends and are planning to meet with 6 more who have RVs. We rented two cottages which have a pull-out couch a double bed in a single room. Not too bad on first look, so we ate, and then walked around to check it out. Pools and hot-tubs looked clean. |Day 2 - Got up early, 6ish, to get ready which was a great thing because by 7:00, the water was off to the whole place (never ever call this a spa or a resort!). People walking around trying to find a bathroom, doors are locked by one of the pools, so the other pool bathroom was heavily used and with no water, well, no flushing. Get it? We left for the day and saw maintenance working on the water line on Corkill Rd. No water until after 5.|Day 3 - Presuming today's water supply would be same as Day 2, got up even earlier to take a shower at one of 'spa' bathrooms by the pools. First one, waited over 8 minutes for water to warm up. No bueno so I get dressed again, and try the second 'spa' bathroom at the other pool. I hate cold showers! This one warmed up in about 9 minutes but I had already given up and finished in cold. |Day 4 - No water same as the other 2 days. |Day 5 - Same deal. ||Now for details of the cottage with photos, you won't believe them! Especially the filthy napkins pushed into each window sill. The dirt on the kitchen window, the view from the breakfast table and the bedroom were especially hard to stomach. Trim falling off walls, paint chipping if you looked at it, just ugh!!! I would have left but others decided to stick it out. ||Now for the water situation and not only the lack of water for several days but the quality is, in my opinion, not even legal to provide to humans without disclaimers on the potential effects to your system. Yes, a few of us ended up with gastro issues because of this place. Will also be checking with the city of Desert Hot Springs on their water sanitation practices as the turbidity, taste, and smell were noticed by all. Completely unsanitary! ||The one plus of this place, the pools LOOKED clean and were warm (didn't get in). The hot-tubs were clean and a good temperature (did get in). The main hot-tub was full of several people who appeared to never get out for hours, just noooo. ||I don't see how this place could ever call itself a SPA and Resort! Where, what! A resort with NO SPA, NO WATER, and NO RESORT! The lack of maintenance was appalling. There are no Bocci Ball courts, the miniature golf course was probably constructed in the 1970's and has had NO maintenance since that time. Carpets torn up, chunks out of the carpets, walking paths unsafe, tree and leaf litter and dirt all through-out, didn't even ask if they had clubs. The whole place lacked...
