Family Foods Super Store — Local services in Detroit

Okay, so I do like this store, especially because they are around the corner from me. It is always clean and mostly stocked.

I wanted to write them privately about ways to improve, but they don't have a public email address, or active social account. So here it is:

1. They are not paying attention to the products that the people in their neighborhood want. The new and vibrant Detroit People's Food Co-op gets it, and responded to this need.

2. I once asked an employee working the shelves if they had any tofu, which I could not find, and they laughed at me, and they responded: "(LOL), we don't have any tofu! (LOL)". The store has ample space to stock tofu if they wanted to, and would probably sell a ton. Just saying, it's not that weird of a product..

3. They are usually sold out of relatively normal items that may be considered "outside" of staples like cheddar cheese and mozzarella. I went today to get some feta cheese and brioche hamburger buns. Feta was entirely wiped out (image attached). This was the only cheese that was sold out. Obviously their customers want this. Other sold out items included any hamburger bun that wasn't the plain buns you find at gas stations.

4. Keep an eye on expiration dates, I've found a lot of products that were expired over the years.

Bottom line is people want stuff that they don't have here, either in-stock or in general. But, it is clean and staff are nice, so if you go for the staples,...

I upped the stars to five. The meat at Family Foods Super Store always looks and smells FRESH and the prices are competitive. I only get my meat from Family Foods now. This supermarket is absolutely the cleanest. Shelves are 99% stocked and aisles are not cluttered. Spills are wiped up immediately. Frozen food has everything you can think of. The vegetables look as though they were placed in the bins one at a time...not dumped in the bins. I think they clean and stock at night so they aren't in the way of shoppers like some other stores I could name. Don't waste your time using the buy 5 save $5.00 coupon here. I had use it on 8/28/24 and the register didn't take off the $5.00. The cashier went the manager about it, he claimed that it did, but it did NOT. I should told her to remove those items off my bill. If they decide to run this promotion again. I will purchase those items separately from the rest of my groceries...
