I've known this store for ages. Used to live in the area some years ago. We came through on vacation and stopped here for supplies and food. Prices were astronomically high and selection was terrible. I used to love going in here for food and deli goodies, but the whole place is just not what I remember, and considering the poverty and lack of options in this area they should really do better. The prices were twice what they are in other stores in other areas. Not exaggerating in the least. Produce selection was a joke, most of it was empty and the rest was not in the best shape. I'm very disappointed in Piggly Wiggly and I feel terrible for the people who live here and have no other grocery shopping options for miles around. Shame on y'all PW. It's even worse with the national inflation occurring, but: With no real competition, this store could have been raking in record profits without increasing prices. Instead, their manager decided to raise prices almost instantly.
Now, instead of doing all my shopping locally and supporting my community, I shop online and save my "big" grocery shopping for the big store 30 miles away. The savings from not shopping here more than pays for the gas used...
