During our summer road trip, one of the top items on our to-do list was attending the Teton Valley Balloon Festival, held at the Teton County Fairgrounds in Driggs, Idaho.
It's a vibrant event that celebrates the beauty and excitement of hot air ballooning. One of the main attractions of the Teton Valley Balloon Festival is the opportunity to take a hot air balloon ride and soar high above the stunning Teton Valley landscape. Visitors have the chance to experience the thrill of floating gently through the sky while taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and farmland. Although we didn't participate in this activity due to limited time, watching all the balloons soar high in the sky was a wonderful experience we hadn't seen before.
The Teton Valley Balloon Festival is not just an event; it's a celebration of community spirit and camaraderie. Local residents and visitors alike come together to enjoy the festivities.
The festival typically takes place over a weekend in the summer months. Admission is often free or requires a nominal fee for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn town for the first rodeo of the 2023 season. It was my first rodeo ever, and I was hoping it would be a great experience. While I did enjoy the overall atmosphere and some of the events (bull riding and barrel racing being my favorites), I truly think calf roping without a weight limit for the calf should be illegal. It is so inhumane and traumatizing for the calf. Unfortunately, one of the cowboys broke one of the calves legs, and I will not be able to unsee the poor calves leg dangling from its tiny body. There was a study in Australia that was done showing how much stress the calves undergo during this event for "sport" and it proved to be significant. A compromise they tried to implement was setting a weight limit for the calves of 200 kg (about 450 lbs). The calves we saw looked way too young to be slammed to the ground and have their legs broken. I disagree with this event altogether, but I encourage the event leaders to implement an ethical weight limit at...

My Brother-in-law started Skijoring last year in Driggs, this year he moved it to the Teton County Fairgrounds. We drove from Southern California because our Niece Tayler Stobaugh was in the event. She and others ride a horse and either pull a person on skis or a snowboard holding a rope behind them on the course. The rider and switch off and be on skis or snowboard. It was successful and a fun two days. They had bleaches and food trucks etc set up. Will be...
