The House of Locs — Local services in Duluth

was referred to the House of Locs by a coworker, her hair is gorgeous. I decided to make an appointment for interlock and color. Upon arriving I was trying to find the suite and was sort of confused being that it was the first time I visited the facility. I tried to open the door and it was locked so I placed a call to the establishment and the young lady that answered the phone guided me in stated, "we always keep the door lock". Well I'm a new client how was I to know? Then I was seated and told that the stylist that I was scheduled for was not there and would be there shortly. 30 minutes later I was told if she wasn't there in 10 minutes another stylist would be doing my hair. Well I was NOT happy because 1. I drove over an hour, 2. AJ was who I was referred to, 3. I had an event that I have to attend so I needed my hair done. After 45 minutes of sitting Tiffany took me to the shampoo bowl to wash my hair. There was another client that was there for her so I sat under the dryer and when it turned off. Everyone kept asking the stylist what was going on with me under the dryer. Another stylist came and turned the dryer on again so I sat another few minutes. The stylist interlocked my hair and I asked could she pin my hair up she then said, "kind of sorta". Not sure what that meant but ok. I sat under the dryer for about 15 minutes, she attempted to pin my hair up (major fail) and my hair was still wet when I left. I am on my starter loc journey and I feel like I am going to have to start over because my ends are everywhere, hair is still wet this morning and sticky. Very unprofessional! I do not recommend. They are inconsiderate of people time and money. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I had an appointment for 9AM. I sat in the parking lot from 8:50am-9:22am and as soon as I left to go home (after calling their office phone a numerous of times with no answer) I received a text saying my appointment has been cancelled for no call no show. I then turned around and came right back and the girl I had an appointment with pulled up right behind me saying she was there the whole time. She just straight lied in my face then had the nerve to tell me she called her other appointment to come in my place just that quick. Even though I had witnesses, text messages and phone calls that prove I was out there the entire time. The girl basically brushed my appointment to the side to squeeze in a regular that’s probably a big tipper as if my appointment wasn’t important enough. Even though I was getting my locs maintenance for my son’s graduation. They give black owned a bad name. DO NOT TRUST THEM. They have no regards for your time and money. They choose favoritism over professionalism. I still can’t believe she watched me pull off then marked me as no call no show to squeeze in another client then lied to my face and asked me to reschedule. The nerve of some ppl. SMH! This is why their business won’t prosper because there is nothing “house” about their locs they are doing business out...

I looked at all the reviews before calling and booking my appointment and thought they were going to be great. The one review I thought was questionable was like well the time thing and wasting people time was not true and the calling and not answering was not true because there were so many good reviews. I now feel as if that review was the most true review of them all and the others are fake. I called to ask about getting microlocs and spoke with K. She stated I could come in at anytime. I am not close to this location at all which was an hour drive. Upon arriving I noticed their name is not on the building per the address, so I called 3 times to be exact to make sure I was in the right place and there was no answer. It was also a cell phone and not a business line. Mind you this was a consultation appointment. I was willing to pay the price for the locs but this company is a joke. I won’t waste my money. They probably won’t care that they lost business but there are better companies you can chose from. Save your time and money. I do not recommend this company. I should sue them for wasting my time and my gas. This message is being polite. I would give them zero...
