Just be cautious.

I hired him for our engagement party and I was pretty unimpressed with the taste and quality.

He underestimated who his audience was. He used low grade ingredients, cheap beef, cheap cheese, basic rolls, cheap bagged shrimp.

From what I can gather he’s better at fresh catering- on site maybe vs. transporting meals. I’m not entirely sure but, as someone who’s pretty used to fine dining and eating well, I was so let down.

I was drunk the night of my event when he came to retrieve his cookware and he asked how everything was, prematurely I said ā€œgreat-thanks so muchā€ because I was partiing to hard to eat.

The next day at morning after brunch I got so many bad reviews from the food which explained the abundance of food left over.

I e-mailed him politely inquiring about a few items. -Soggy sliders to the point of not editable. -Soggy, salty veggies -Spicy and overcooked macaronis and cheese (made with cheese sauce of some sort, not fresh cheese). -Soggy falling apart egg rolls -overcooked shrimp skewers

The excuses I received was that the travel time to my event is what caused the soggy food items (even though the address was provided during the consultation call) and his Mac and cheese made in house (or the stove) is different than his travel Mac, something about the cheese setting, gave a odd explanation about the Cajun Mac.

Offered a 10 or 15% discount on my next order, took no accountability for this lackluster catering job.

Lucky for us we had a 2nd engagement party in NY and the food was phenomenal.

Pros: -Setup is beautiful tho!! Lots of lights and hanging stuff. -Personality is A+ , super friendly

I booked an event for my event planning business. I informed the Chef that the couple was traveling from Houston to taste his food in conjunction with my services. We set a date and time. Less than 4 hours before the event starts Chef Ben cancels on us. His reason? Says he has a big meeting with a network. Initially I was understanding because I support black owned business and truly want him to succeed in his endeavors. My clients were really upset and disappointed so I had to accommodate them by providing food options at a local restaurant for $150. This is on top of what I’ve already paid Chef Ben . My clients literally drove all this way, first time in Dallas, and he dropped the ball. He didn’t offer a refund just suggested I pick another day. Well my clients weren’t going to drive back here so I thought maybe I can use his services for a corporate event. Well he promised he would make time for me in the next few weeks. Guess what? He ghosted me. He hasn’t returned my texts, emails, dms, nothing! I’ve texted him everyday for a week straight trying to reschedule or get a refund. He has not responded, even sent him a request for refund through my bank. Nothing!! Basically I am out of $450 dealing with him, and never tasted any food! It pains me to see him all over social media and on the news and he hasn’t honored his commitment to me & my clients. He’s too famous now for the little people, I thought his integrity was better than this, especially after I was accommodating to his last minute change. I don't normally write reviews but I could not pass up the opportunity to inform the masses that this man's hands are BLESSED! I've retained a private chef for catering many times before, but this is the first time I've ever written a review. He catered my event this past weekend for about 40 people. Understandably, food quality goes down as quantity prepared goes up. NOT IN THIS CASE!!! I wish I could give hime 10 stars! Literally all of my guests were so impressed with their meal. Not only was the food great, but he is extremely down to earth. He always checked in with me in the weeks leading up to my event. He also has a wonderful personality!!
