I loved Renee's cooking class so much that I hosted a class in my home as well. I've been a vegan for a few years now and my husband is not, so I am always trying to learn how to make delicious vegan meals that he will also enjoy. I was so excited to discover Fire and Earth Kitchen!

My first cooking class was a birthday gift from my husband and was all about comfort foods. In three hours Renee made garlic potato wedges with chimichurri sauce, mac & 'cheese' with broccoli and stewed tomatoes, and (my favorite) pesto pizzas with almond cheese, peppers, and sun dried tomatoes. The pizzas she taught me to make brought back pizza night in our house and now I've made them too many times to count. It was a great way to spend my birthday.

The class we hosted in our home was so fun! We had a couple of friends join us, after raving about our previous class. Renee brought everything she needed and left with no trace (except for the yummy leftovers she left in the fridge). This class was all about spices. First she talked about the different properties of the spices that she was going to use and even introduced us to a few we had not cooked with before. She made spiced bean dip with fresh tortillas, vegan greek moussaka, and (my favorite from this class) chili glazed flax nut burgers. I can't tell you how nice it is to learn how to make a vegan burger that holds together while you cook and eat it. My husband said it was the best garden burger he has ever had and I have to agree.

Everything Renee made was delicious. Even my non-vegan husband thought so. But in addition to the great food, Renee and Nick are so sweet and they give you interesting tips for making life easier in the kitchen and will answer any...

My husband got me a gift certificate for a private cooking class a few months ago and I was so excited that the day finally arrived for us to have our class!

Leading up to the class, Renee was incredibly responsive and helpful, walking me through the process and answering any questions that I had. I filled out a questionnaire and based on that, Renee sent me a few different meal options that I chose from. They all sounded delicious so it was hard to choose! I finally settled on Black Bean Veggie Burgers, Tuscan Quinoa with Garlic & Chickpeas and Mushroom & Spinach Quinoa Risotto. She gave me the list of ingredients I needed to buy and told me she would see me the day of our class.

The class itself was so much fun! My husband and I sat back and watched as Renee went to work, explaining everything as she went. She had so many interesting tidbits of information and I was furiously scribbling notes, as I didn't want to miss any of what she was saying.

I loved that she came to our house too. It was incredibly convenient and comfortable being in my own home. Plus, being in my kitchen allowed me to see exactly which appliances I would need to use when I made the recipes myself in the future.

I would highly recommend a private cooking class with Renee for anyone who is looking for a fun date idea, where lots of learning will be had and delicious food...

I have had the great joy and privilege of attending three different cooking classes put on by Fire and Earth Kitchen on Whidbey Island. The food is consistently delicious in flavour and mouthfeel, and the recipes are well thought-out and accessible where ingredients and "kitchen tools" are concerned. They are true champions of the person who wants to reep the benefits of excellent health through food choices, without omiting any level of beauty or taste.

Renee offers nutritional information throughout each class which is sure to make any skeptic of plant-based eating raise their eyebrows in curiosity when they realize they have so much left to learn about eating for a wealth of health! She and Nick offer basic ideas to simplify time in the kitchen, and openly answer probing questions about alternatives to certain ingredients, where to purchase more exotic ingredients and more. You can not go wrong with these classes, so if you're considering enrolling in one do so immediately and you too shall see just how enjoyable these two wonderful people are, and how superb their food creations are as well.

Love to all of you at Fire and Earth Kitchen (including the kitties,...
