As someone who lives in Eagle River year round, it is nice to have a store like Trigs that does a good job of offering a rounded selection. I'm sure it can be a difficult job to keep everyone happy especially with large volumes of tourists that come to the area.
Produce Department is nicely kept up and the prices are OK. Pay attention to the weekly flyers for the deals and a customer can save some money.
Deli has a wide selection and some of the items are made onsite which are quite good.
The Bakery is probably my least favorite department. Nothing taste fresh here. Everything that I have tried is dried out and taste day old, etc. I avoid it now.
Meat department offers some great deals if you shop regularly. Just have to ignore some of the meat department employees who are not very friendly or customer focused.
As far as Customer Service, it is very hit and miss. I can see that having to deal with the public on a daily basis can impact an employee's attitude. I have watched many customers acting entitled and self serving. There are many Trigs employees who are very friendly and helpful and then there are others that are not. However, it's a customer service job and Trigs could do a better job overall.
The biggest negative is that Trigs Corporate has decided to stop accepting cash in the Self Check Out Lanes. I've heard many rumors why but none of them seem to be cost effective. Before I could do my weekly shopping and be in and out in 20 minutes using self check out. Now I have to wait for a check out lane to be opened and that can take 15-20 minutes of waiting in line. Even in the early morning hours. With the employee shortage, you would think that Trig's would want to have less people using the check out lanes but I guess not. I choose to pay cash as I have had many problem with credit card fraud in the past. I reached out to Trig's management for a comment but no response.
Eagle River is lucky to have two grocery stores in the town. I hope Trigs continues to serve...
Read moreOverpriced and no longer 24 hours closes at 11 now. We have lived here our whole lives and was unaware of that change. The manager, Grant, approached us, stating the store closing in 3 minutes and wasnt very understanding. We were over charged for our fruit because the signs had already been changed for the next days prices/sale already. believe we paid 6.99 for a melon marked 2.99... and 5.99 for a pint of blueberries. He was very impatient and actually approached us to tell us we had to finish up, felt very unprofessional. Due to that fact. I lost my WIC benefits that expired that night at midnight. I felt very embarrassed and disrespected as a customer, and also as a person. The manager and another employee watched us as we hurried to finish our shopping. He seemed to be irritated and of no help when I asked about the difference in what we were charged and what was advertised, as if he didn't feel it was worth taking the time. I was told to come back the next day to get the issue straightened out. Needless to say I havent...
Read moreTrigs being one of 2 actual grocery markets here in Eagle River I can understand some flaws. But the design of that store is ridiculous, lines back up at the very few registers they have and the people are literally crowded in the main aisle from the store going in. It's a constant traffic jam whether they have multiple registers running or even just one.
Then there's the insane deal of self checkouts that often require the one staff member monitoring to transfer the sale to the one cash able till to complete the sale, whats the point in that? Just get rid of those and put in more manned registers and make it work better.
Then there's the insane high prices they have, it's like a minimum of 35% and often 75% more than any other market for items. Unsure what the deal is there other than increasing the pocket cash for upper management and such.
Although I won't say it's all bad, there's definitely many good reasons to shop elsewhere if the option...
