Kids had fun. This fair is about 1/3 of the size of the state fair. I was able to take my wagon & camp chair & just find a place to chill while my teen & her guest ran wide open. Officers were patrolling & I was keeping a check as I always do. Went through the metal detectors, etc so despite I hate having open spaces - felt reasonable safe but still aware. everything is expensive. $5 parking, $10 admission wasn’t too bad. Wristbands were $25/$35 each- I forget which. My problem was $13 for a Philly steak that was mostly bread and not what I expected. I chose not to get small fry for extra $6. souvenir cup- $8 so I could get $4 refills lemonade. Bottled water $3. Kids- funnel cake, fried Oreos- prices not known. Candied apples were $10/$13 each if I recall right. didn’t buy any. Daughter got TWO chicken tenders- $5. Bacon cheddar fries- $10 I wish these events would come back down to level. I’m tired of paying inflated prices for fair food. only reason I ate is because I had to work all day then take them and we got there around the time I’d be eating dinner anyway. they had $140 and came home with $6 left. I looked around some of the vendors& $30 was the tag for much of the cheap crap jewelry & stuff for sale. Prizes for the games were cheap junk for you to try to win. Not here to gripe but just wanted to help the next person on a tight budget with babies...
Read moreI went on my birthday and was extremely disappointed. The prices have become outrageous and there are hardly any rides at all. All of the games are rigged, and I don't like the idea of paying almost 10$ for a lemonade. I should have stayed home and kept my money. I don't understand how they are still in business, but people keep paying so they stay afloat. It upsets me that when I have children I won't be able to take them to the fair that I remember and loved when I was growing up, instead they'll have to ride some of the rides there for 4-5 tickets each. Tickets are not cheap. And the arm bracelet is not worth it with the slim selection of rides that they have. If you can afford to blow your money on something that won't make you happy, be my guest and go. Otherwise I would take your child or even your friends, perhaps even yourself to an Aquarium or something since they have alot more action than what's going on here. Don't waste your money, please.
Edit for the owner since I can’t reply: I went on September 4th, 2019 That was my...
Read moreI'm giving the Upper SC State Fair 5 stars but only because it was a genuine fair experience. I bought tickets and wristbands online, getting in was easy but finding where to pickup the wristbands was much more difficult. The carnies(hope that isn't an offensive name) look like carnies, the dull look in their eyes as they activate their ride for the millionth time always makes me sad. The carnies with games try to lure you in like a used car salesman trying to sell a lemon to a 16 year old. The cuisine can only be described as uniquely American, includes fried Oreos, Twinkies, and Snickers. The rides for the most part were at least exciting and I was only concerned about my safety on a couple rides. I didn't see the animals this time but I did get to hear Bobo the clown try to egg on his audience but to no avail, which was ironically pretty funny. This sounds like complaints but this is exactly what I expect from...
