Incredibly kind with an amazing selection. These guys work hard to restore beautiful pieces and offer them at reasonable prices.
I made an appointment here to browse as I had been following their page for a while. I’m a big MCM fan and prefer to shop older, built-to-last furniture. However, it can be hard to find pieces that are worth it and in good shape.
Upon entering, I felt like a kid in a candy store. The selection was fantastic and you could tell they had been brought back to life with care. I didn’t know where to look first.
Luckily, Pat and Don were there to guide me and answer any and all questions. I had the pleasure of chatting with them about the business and learned how passionate they were about every item that came their way.
They had knowledge about the history of the pieces and if they couldn’t restore something themselves, they had ties to the best people who could. They know their stuff and while some may question the pricing of the furniture, they are truly offering amazing deals for items that are fully restored and built to last. Plus, any “imperfections” that remain from the age of the piece, they are up front and honest about.
You can tell that Retrodelphia cares about giving their customers a good experience, while restoring beauty and history in quality furniture. For unique pieces and great service, I highly recommend. I mean you’re not going to just get a rosewood...
Read moreThis past holiday weekend I was getting ready to leave Philly and saw that Retrodelphia was having a sale. I knew they were appointment only, and messaged them to see if they had any availability that day for me to swing by. After only a few minutes I received a reply that invited me to stop by anytime before 3 pm along with detailed parking instructions for when I arrived. The location is exactly as described: a large while warehouse behind a private home. After stepping inside the warehouse I was greeted by one of the owners and encouraged to shop around, and even could see someone doing some reupholstering to the side of the warehouse. They had a table with a few tape measurers available for shoppers as well which was very helpful. I ended up scooping up a solo bedside table for a great price since it was a loner and not part of a set. After paying (they accept a variety of options), I left the table to have them do some touch ups on the finish, and will be scheduling at time for me to pick up the piece in the next week or so. If you're looking for a statement piece of Mid-Century Modern furniture or even little odds and ends for decor, check...
Read moreI very rarely post reviews of places, especially negative ones. However, it bears mentioning that the owner/operator of this shop, Pat Tomasiello, harassed me on Facebook when I asked for accurate, up front pricing on his pieces - which are crazily overpriced, so he has to hide the pricing publicly.
He went so far that he found photos of my wife (who died of cancer 2 years ago at age 37), and tried to use them to insult me and delegitimize my argument. Nobody should give this place their business. It was sleazy, classless, and unnecessary.
Don’t shop at Retrodelphia. You can find a better store, with an owner who has ethics and better pricing.
EDIT Oct 5: The reply by the business owner is quite deceptive. They knew about my wife's death because they spent time going through my personal Facebook account to find photos to use to discredit and insult us. He even went so far as to find my place of business, call my manager under false pretenses, and bother me at my office. They are not a respectful person and everyone reading this should find an alternative place to shop, regardless of his feigned...
