This school should receive a F for failure to accommodate dyslexic students. It is unbelievable that an educational institution has absolutely no understanding of what it takes for students with learning disabilities. Those disabilities could be any type of dyslexia's such as dysphonetic, dysgraphic, or dyseidetic. Dyslexia is typically co-morbid which can include but not limited to ADHD/ADD, CAPD, memory disorder, oculomotor, etc. I am a Dyslexic Specialist and a mother of a dyslexic and I researched and toured Illinois colleges and found that most colleges will do what it takes for a student to succeed. A mother of one of my previous students recently reached out and shared her experience with Illinois Central College and I was mortified to hear that after 2 years of completing an associate level and entering into her PTA program they will absolutely not give her some needed accommodations. This student has various types of dyslexia as well as executive function weakness and CAPD and the mom was advocating for word banks during test taking due to word retrieval difficulties and the schools response was, "no, there aren't any word banks in the real world. " You have got to be kidding me. Have you ever heard of Google. We have a word banks at our fingertips at all times. In the real world we learn through experiences and repetition. Standardized testing is archaic. This is no thoughtfulness to give Standardized tests. It is not representative of who we are as a whole person. Please send a message to this college that excluding 20% of our dyslexic population is...
Read moreI'm sure it's a fine college. I have an issue with the wording on their website involving a federally mandated traffic course. When you get your license, you take defensive driving. When you get a speeding ticket under the age of 25, you take the Alive at 25 NSC federal course. Why are they selling me a generic defensive driving course, when the defensive driving course page online says "Alive at 25" on the page. Then there's a full separate page that says "Alive at 25" and nothing else. I cannot comprehend why they both say "Alive at 25" when one is NOT the Alive at 25 course. Because of the website editor incompetency, I now have to pay a court fee and extend my case because they can't get it together with their website wording.
Was an instant refund stay away. Fix your website and stop playing with people's lives
I changed the stars from 1 to 2 to bypass Google filtering. It's 1...
