While most of these reviews are in regard to small animals mine was a horse. I watched while my horse was loaded on the trailer to take him to the crematory and his remains were treated with respect. (Comical story but not enough space here, but it would convey the respect, concern and good humor of those who work here. Let's just say my Halifax had the last word just as he would want it.) Seeing that the barn where he was boarded was only a few miles away and on the same road I was able and welcome there not only upon his arrival but for his cremation if I so desired. I would say to those who are concerned who wrote about the cremains that were returned, no matter where you go ask if you can stay. It is the only way you will ever know and the only way some people will ever be able to feel comfortable.
If a mistake was made I can only imagine how awful it must feel barring any monetary outlay. But, the spirit and having my companion close is comforting especially given that horses are taken to dumps and put in a trough and covered with lime in common burial pits. So if there is a little someone else in there with him so be it. I would find solice in knowing someone else who loved their pet as much as I loved mine is keeping him company. But, I know it is only him in there and his soul and spirit live in my heart not in the box. I hope this helps if there was a mistake made.
I also had one if my cats cremated and I think it is him. My box was not sealed either but I never thought about it. I prefer it not being sealed. The horse, Halifax, he is sealed and very heavy!!!!!!!! His box is so big sometimes I sit on it like I am still able to sit on his back.
I hope no one who reads this finds this morose, but I am 62 and have lived through a lot of death in my life and after the grief have found the joy, peace, memories and humor not only in life but in death as well.
Thank you Western Farms for being in this business.
God Bless and blessings for anyone reading this review because I've been where you are. Just ask I am sure your wishes will be fulfilled by Western.
We will be back. I just hope not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place preys on people who are grieving. It was not my choice to go with Trusted Journey, this is the company that West Park Animal Hospital uses. I had to put my cat to sleep on Saturday night. When i did, i let them know i didn't want ashes back, that's no longer her and i don't want to think of her that way. I don't need a paw print or a clip of her fur...i have fur, and i have dozens of photos of her perfect little black toe beans. I said this before i left the vet. I began receiving emails from Trusted Journey before i even made it home. Her poor little body was barely cold and they were trying to upsell me. The emails also made it seem as though i still owed money, even if i wasn't going to purchase "souvenirs"... even the vet was confused by this when i called to double check, as i had to pay before any services were provided. I received six emails and several phone calls over the next few days, even extending the time that i had to change my mind about buying more. The phone calls finally stopped only after i called back, sobbing and begging them to allow me to grieve without trying to get more money from me. Their practices are predatory and cruel. I'm sure they're great if you're spending the extra money, but if you don't, they'll sure do their best to make you feel guilty about it. This was never about money, it's about what's best for me and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe received a pop-up during checkout for our family's cat that said the services offered had changed and to please restart; private cremation had gone up in those few minutes from $189 to $209 with no explanation. Everything is a la carte so it is easy to rack up quite the bill with only a few basic items, such as fur clippings or a clay paw print. Picking up your pet's keepsakes at the clinic where they were treated is not an option; there is only a shipping fee to your home (in our case $30). Our cat's urn and keepsakes arrived intact, but for hundreds of dollars overall spent, the nameplate wasn't even attached to the urn.
Important to note: Trusted Journey's client portal warned that if we had not made a decision with payment going through online in 72 hours, our cat would have been shipped off for communal cremation with nothing back.
We left our cat at MedVet Cleveland West feeling at peace with how well she passed, yet I am dismayed they have chosen Trusted Journey. This will be a time-sensitive financial surprise for families, who are likely already stressed by their pets needing emergency care prior to their passing. Though our cat's keepsakes are otherwise dignified, I do not find Trusted Journey's policies and practices worth using their...
