I came into this round with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short.

When we booked our tee time, we were told over the phone that a twilight rate would apply. However, once we got to the course, we were informed that no such rate existed. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, the staff made us feel like we were crazy for even asking about it. Some of the managers, in particular, seemed to be on a power trip, treating my group as if we were in the wrong for simply repeating what their staff told us. There was no ownership of the miscommunication, no apology — just dismissiveness. It left a really sour taste, especially considering the course seems to think of itself as a five-star public track, yet behaves with one-star service.

To make things worse, when we mentioned to the starter that it was our first time playing there, he responded with awkwardness and an almost patronizing attitude — as if we were out of place for even showing up. It was bizarre, especially since this is a mid-tier public course, nothing remotely exclusive. This type of snobbishness is exactly what drives newer or improving golfers away. They’ve created a “we’re too good for you” atmosphere at a course that simply doesn’t warrant it. For anyone newer to the game or just looking for a welcoming experience, I would absolutely not recommend this place. My group and I are solid golfers — dressed properly in polos, golf shoes, the whole deal — and yet it was clear they judged us based purely on appearances.

Throughout the round, the interactions with staff remained disappointing. While one starter was kind, the rest were unprofessional, unnecessarily confrontational, and even used inappropriate language. It made the environment feel hostile rather than enjoyable.

There’s clearly a major disconnect among the staff when it comes to customer service expectations. Until that’s addressed, experiences like ours are bound to continue.

Based on the poor communication and unprofessional behavior we encountered, I can’t recommend this course. I hope management makes some serious changes, but as of now, I won’t...

I had high hopes for this course, but unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to expectations.

When we booked our tee time, we were told over the phone that a twilight rate would apply. Once we were on the course, we were informed that no such rate existed. They treated us like we were “crazy” for what we told over the phone. Some of the staff managers clearly are on a “power trip” and tried to make my crew and I feel dumb for what a staff member clearly told us over the phone. There was no effort to resolve the situation or acknowledge the miscommunication, which left a very poor impression. The course clearly thinks they are a 5 star public course… but treats people with 1 star behavior.

Also — when we mentioned to the starter that it was my groups first time on the course… he acted almost speechless and he almost tried to make us feel dumb for playing the course? Very confusing as it’s a mid-tier public course lol, they aren’t anything special. This is exactly the attitude that people who are newer, or working to get better at, absolutely despise. They have created a very “we are too good for you” environment. Again, which is very strange for an average public course. Do NOT recommend for someone newer looking at this course. My crew and I are solid at golf, they clearly judged us by how we looked. (We were all dressed very sufficiently wearing polos, golf shoes etc).

Throughout the round, interactions with course staff were equally disappointing. The starters (one was very kind), in particular, were unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational, including the use of inappropriate language. It created an environment that felt far from welcoming.

Clearly there is a staff disconnect on regarding expectations that needs to be addressed, as their current staffing structure displayed a very “unaligned” demeanor. Needs to be fixed.

Given the combination of poor communication and staff behavior, I can’t recommend this course. I hope management takes steps to address these issues, but based on this experience, I won’t...

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at this golf course was so disappointing it needs to be shared.

When we booked our tee time over the phone, we were specifically told we were getting a twilight rate. However, once we arrived and were already on the course, we were informed that the golf course “never had a twilight rate” — essentially calling us liars or accusing us of misunderstanding, neither of which was the case. There was no accountability for the misinformation, and we were left feeling completely misled.

To make matters worse, the course rangers were incredibly disrespectful throughout our round. Instead of maintaining a professional atmosphere, they were rude, and confrontational when speaking to us. It’s one thing to manage the pace of play or enforce rules — it’s another to treat paying guests with zero respect.

Overall, between the misinformation about pricing and the unacceptable behavior from staff, this was easily one of the worst golf experiences we’ve ever had. I would not recommend this course to anyone until they address how they communicate with customers and train their staff on basic...

Played here for the first time today, overall course condition was very good. Price seems to be fair for the upkeep and good looking greens and tee boxes, the food and drinks are a little bit more expensive than all the other courses I have played, we saw the ranger one time throughout 18 holes. Started on hole 10 and saw him on hole 16, the pace of play was awesome until the last 9 holes 1-9. No one was out to keep pace of play, group ahead of us were 2-3 holes behind the next group and couldn’t do anything about pace of play since no one was there to enforce it. GPS on carts had the other carts in front of you with distances which was VERY VERY nice and not seen before so that was an awesome addition so you aren’t sitting and guessing if you will hit into them. Beautiful course just wish ranger would be out more enforcing pace of play, would totally recommended the course to others and play again.

First time here. Nice place to visit the driving range. The staff were friendly and attentive. The ball machine was easy to use, although be sure to put your basket close to the dispenser — about 5 balls didn’t go in the basket and had to chase after them! Even though it looked like a lot of spots available, it was so busy at the time I was ready to go that I needed to wait for someone to leave. Also, someone almost took a spot nearby that was occupied when that person went to buy another bucket of balls — even with their golf bag still on the grass at their spot!

Front nine is OK, but back nine not so much. Many holes are lined with tall weeds and frequent lost ball searches take too long slowing play for all groups. Yardage markers are hard to find and carts don't have GPS so bring a distance finder. On the plus side, Braemar has great food/beer options and a large deck area overlooking the course as well as the best driving range in the state.
