We had a good time at the Elberta Sausage Festival. There were quite a few vendors selling food, crafts, arts etc. It was raining but there was still a pretty good turnout. The sausage was a huge disappointment. We stood in line for 20 min and paid $10 for each sausage dog for burned and very dry sausage. Unfortunately we didn't notice until we got home and was ready to eat. At first glance I thought the outside of the sausage was just charred from the grill which would have been fine. I cut mine in half and it was very dry and over cooked. The sausage festival was centered around their secret recipe German Sausage thats only available twice a year and it was a huge disappointment. It was not a complete waste of time because we did have a good time. The best part was the bake sale at St Mark's Lutheran Church. The baked goods were all homemade and absolutely delicious. Waited in line for over an hour before getting to the window to purchase 3 sausages. Found seats at a table and ready to chow down. The sausages were burnt to a crisp. All 3 of them. So I went back to the window and inquired about the burnt sausage. I was told "we sell what they give us". No replacements, No refunds. It's a donation to the fire department.
