I've been going to dirt track racing ever since I can remember. I've been to many different tracks in South Dakota, Iowa, and now Missouri. I've been looking for a track to go to for a while now, so yesterday I stumbled upon Lake Ozarks Speedway. After doing a bit of research on the smaller size, dirt oval track, and high banks.....it sounded like the track I grew up watching. The track was about a 1.5 hour drive for me. The price ($20) was reasonable for 5-6 classes. The stands offer viewing from both sides of the track which was unique. The hot laps started late but within reasonable time. You are not able to see the cars racing from the grandstands. My only complaint is the speakers but all my favorite small tracks have issues. I was IMPRESSED 👍 by the organization and efficiency of the track! One way onto the track, one way off. Drivers in hot laps exited promptly after the laps were up and next group was on in a blink. I was IMPRESSED by the Flag Man Officials attentiveness! I can not give enough credit or express how amazed I was on re-starts when drivers were out of line (I loved loved the fairness especially!) He was attentive and QUICKLY threw the yellow flag when an accident occured. I have seen soooooo many times where the flag man was asleep and only watched the leader and it was a full lap until the stalled car was nearly hit. There were 2 officials most of the time on the flag stand and in all my many years and thousands of races watched, this track WOW'D me on how efficient/fair/consistent/safely the program proceeded. There will be dirt flying but it's relatively easy to still see the cars and isn't so bad that you can't watch the race. I bought a "pop" out of concessions but had not read all of the options. Easy to exit the lot after the races with minimal/no traffic. I can't wait to return. I really think this may become my...
Read moreAttended the ATF Nationals last night (9/14/24). First off, the ticket price listed on the website was $40 but wound up being $60. The ticket buying process was a nightmare apparently due to poor internet service. We were 3rd in our line and it took 30 minutes before we could get in and that was because they decided to quit trying to print out tickets and started giving out wristbands, so kudos to them for some good problem-solving. The racing was good but there were several issues with the production. No programs were available and there was a muted PA system, so it was impossible to tell what was going on throughout the night. Without an announcer, crowd involvement was limited. It was really evident when they were announcing the riders before the main events. There was very little cheering because you couldn't hear the riders names. Unless you were sitting across from the small viewing screen you were completely lost. I guess they wanted us to subscribe to Flo Racing so we could follow along online. Not a very nice way to treat paying customers I feel this was a very poor production for an event that cost $60 to see. However, the fireworks at the end were spectacular. Too bad the event itself wasn't as well produced. Doubt...
Read morewas on vacation 6 hours from home. decide to go to the local speedway. had to pay $25 per person but we decided that might be worth it. got rained out after hot laps. leaving the lady asked me to wait since i told her I'm 6 hours from home, i wouldn't be returning to the track. was told promoter was too busy to talk to his worker on radio. they made us hold the tickets knowing we wouldn't be back. now that I'm home from vacation they post on Facebook to send tickets in with your own prepaid envelope so i spent more money on stamps and envelopes....... worst leadership I've ever seen at a track. never have i been to a track that won't refund due to a rain out. i would never go back to this track, having to spend more money just to get my own money back to start with...
