The store used to be the best Wicca/ astrology/ esoteric store I’ve been too . Even when I moved to Chicago I’d still drive here just to buy some crystals or browse their tarot cards. A couple years ago Elizabeth left the store and it seems to have affected how the store is run. They used to have really friendly staff but the last time I went (6 months ago ) they had all new people working there. The girls working there were very rude , one of the girls followed me around the store making sure I wasn’t picking up anything. They have a new policy where if you’re gonna buy something you MUST carry around a little basket, you’re not allowed to hold anything without the basket. This is my 2nd time at Gypsy Haven and the service was outstanding! Jessica was so nice, attentive, and detail oriented. From the very first time I met her Jessica made sure to make me feel comfortable and help me with any ailments I have. She recommended a lot of great teas & herbs that have been very helpful. She also gave me a lot of encouragement and advice. She was even super professional and nice when a random girl came into the shop and started taking pictures without consent. She politely asked the woman not to take pictures and although the woman was not very happy about this I was very impressed with the integrity & respect Jessica showed at the time. Great experience. Felt welcomed. Staff was super nice. Did not get her name, but she went above and beyond enough to ask questions I had to the owner that she didn’t know. I greatly appreciate that. I was asked if I needed help and also was left alone for some time for myself to explore the store. I used to work in retail and there’s nothing worse than being in a store for the first time and feeling overwhelmed by feeling forced to connect with someone that works there. Thankfully I didn’t feel that at all here. I was able to stand in the corner and look up things on the internet or on YouTube to better educate myself on some of their products and what they’re used for. Will definitely be coming here again.
