I placed orders totaling around $18k around 7/23/21, along with multiple other orders this summer in order to fix up my great grandfather's house that my brother and I bought. We are the third generation to own this house. Almost all of that cost was to completely rebuild the roof and we paid out of pocket for it. I placed the order a month ahead of time and all of the materials arrived at the Elizabethtown, KY Menards very quickly. On 7/30 I was given a delivery date of 8/7 because the materials had already arrived at the store. I had a delivery scheduled for earlier that week that was missed because the driver got stuck at another job site the day before and was scared to do more deliveries. 8/12 and 8/16 missed deliveries I was told were the result of a forklift being broken and sickness. While a couple other changed delivery dates were the result of truck availability and other customer orders. We finally received our shipment on 8/17/21, but only after I asked for our money back when I was given a delivery date 8/19. We had built weeks into padding for unexpected delays and had to finish within the week.
We had to keep our project on time and continued our work by rearranging things and bringing in extra help, but because the order delivery was changed last minute so many times we ended not having a roof on the house before the order was delivered and rain destroyed every last bit of our ceiling insulation and drywall. Not to mention everywhere else water was able to seep into floors, walls and cabinets. We have thousands of dollars in damages, lost wages and extra labor/supplies as result of this service failure. We worked 14 hours a day to try and get this done, but were unable to finish within in our project time with a last minute delivery that we repeatedly told would be there. This is not acceptable when dealing with tens of thousands of dollars and people's livelihood at stake. This store wouldn't even refund us our shipping costs. Absolutely nothing.
All we got in response for a refund was, 'we delivered the materials so we can't give you a refund'. So they can just lie about delivery dates as much as they want? Wish I would have known about this store. Talked to a contractor working on a house nearby and he said it took them 8 weeks to deliver some windows even though they were sitting at the store ready to go. Not the only stories I'm hearing...
Read moreMenards is a pretty place, their store is very organized, I just wish that could be the same with their customer service. This store is close to Home Depot and Lowe’s, where those stores provide the same products for roughly the same cost. We went in one time before Christmas to look around, knowing that we have a few projects to do around the house. I stopped to fix my daughter’s mask; in the process, mine had fallen. Before I could even get her mask situated, one of the associates was rudely yelling at me as though I was a child to put my mask back up over my face. I quickly did, as soon as I fixed my daughter’s mask, and we carried on our way, not thinking much of this incident. We came again the day after Christmas with one of our projects in mind. We purchased a large amount of items, and as we approached the checkout, the cashier just stared at us. My wife asked how we were supposed to proceed, as the setup is very different from any other store. The cashier then rudely said to give her the cart and to go bag the items ourselves. After my wife headed to the end of the aisle, I asked if they did a military discount, as other large stores such as Home Depot and Lowe’s do. Again, the cashier rudely responded, “No we DO NOT! And boy do I WISH I had a nickel for every time someone asked me that question! Actually, make that a dollar!” I understand that some businesses don’t do it, and that is perfectly fine, but a simple, “no” would have sufficed. That was uncalled for and completely unprofessional. We didn’t do anything to warrant such ill treatment, and clearly this is a common theme at least in this Menard’s. We definitely won’t be back. It is located in a military town, so we don’t recommend any other military members frequenting their...
Read moreToday I wanted to purchase 2 culverts and ultimately did.
Although I was warned twice that the back area does not have a smooth operation, I decided to go anyway because the website showed that this location had what I needed. Their inventory showed that they had the size culverts that I wanted but they actually didn't so I decided to go up a size... But the inventory was showing zero for the bigger size, which was wrong because they were already loaded on my trailer, which caused confusion and everything needed to be double checked. Clearly inventory was not up to date and Beth was annoyed. At first I felt that she was inconvenienced by me but after thought I decided that she was probably tired of dealing with silly mistakes like this on her end altogether. She was very professional but annoyed. So, I had to walk up front to pay the difference... I couldn't do it right there. I walked up to the registers and they could not help me so I had to go over to the entrance of Menards and go to those registers in order to fix the purchase difference. I did not feel inconvenienced until that moment. I had to walk around the entire store to get the payment processed and then walk all the way back in order to get out of the back area, because you have to show the barcode where you've paid for your product.(Understandable) Why is it that there are only two registers out of the entire store that could deal with my return and purchase of the bigger size culverts? I wasted about an hour in total trying to finalize this purchase. I guess the joke was on me because I was warned twice that the back area does not have a...
