The gentleman that greeted us was amazing, totally went far and beyond for us. My fiance is disabled and walks with a cane and uses a back brace and with a big store like Academy she needs to use the power chair.
One was not available when we first went in so we used the wheelchair. The gentleman went looking for the power chair and tracked us down when he found it. So very sweet of him to do so. We were truly honored of his kind generosity. I don't know how much you are paying this wonderful gentleman but he deserves a raise and a very big bonus!! For him alone I would give this store 5 stars but I gave 4 stars partly due to the layout of the store is NOT Handicapped Accessible.
Granted the majority of patrons may not be handicapped but you do have rehab equipment, workout attire and yes even handicapped people like to play baseball and basketball even go fishing and camping. So if there is any way you can get corporate to change the layout to be more accessible, that would be great!
Oh and while you are talking to corporate, PLEASE tell them to upgrade your computer register system including the server. You would think that a brand new store less than a year old that you wouldn't have issues running your credit card through to pay for your purchases.
The whole system was jammed and would not take credit cards. There was no sign on the door to let people know in advance. There was no announcement letting people know until you got in line you would hear the cashier asking you if you had cash because the credit cards don't like to go through.
There were long lines at EVERY register. We had to void out our transaction and I had to leave my fiance at the store and go to the nearest ATM to get cash. When I returned we had to stand in line again which was just as long as it was before and the couple in front of us had a basket full of items to purchase worth $200 if not more and was unaware that they couldn't use their credit card. We asked if we could go ahead of them while they figured out what they are going to do (We only had $36 worth to re-pay for) so they agreed. One of the managers suggested to do a reboot of the whole system but that would cause even more of a delay and in the hour when we first were waiting to pay to the 2nd time, they did not do the reboot.
So to sum up, 5 stars to the gentleman who greeted us but you got knocked down to 4 (although reading back it probably should be 3 stars) due to layout and credit card issues which is a corporate problem and not...
Read moreSeems like everytime I go there things are just scattered everywhere!! I went to buy dance shoes for my girls a few weeks ago since that is the only place in this town to buy them. There was no rhyme or reason to how the shoes were on the shelf(ie women's jazz dance shoes mixed with little girl Ballet shoes and little girl jazz with women's Ballet, shoes not in boxes, mismatched sizes in boxes). Afterspending 30 minutes I gave up trying to look for the one shoe I needed and went to the front where they said there should be two..they looked for another 15 minutes with no luck.
Today I went and there were hydroflasks that said wide mouth with flex straw and just had a plain lid. There were hydroflasks without lids, there were packages of flex straw kids you could buy separately but even those were missing the straws! I took two wide mouth flex straw cups to the front and asked to have the correct lid with the hydroflask i wanted the only difference was the color of the hydroflask! The cashier asked his manager if we could switch it out. The manager Jason was not willing to switch the lids. He also was not anywhere in sight to explain why i could not have the correct lid. Sounds like management needs an...
Read moreThe store itself is nice and clean. But that's where it ends. Some of the most rude and arrogant employees I've ever encountered. If you plan on purchasing a gun from them cross your fingers and you might get lucky depending on who is working I guess. I once had one of their employees ask me why my signature looked like the one on my drivers license. He said nobody's signature ever looks like the one on their drivers license. (???)He was very skeptical and almost refused me the sell.
Then I go back a couple years later to help my father pick out a gun. He's not very handy with electronics'/touch screen ,etc. And he ask if I could assist him, I said yes. (Granted I was not going to buy or sign anything for him.) And the employee working immediately denied a purchase to either of us. He said you can't help him and neither of you can buy the gun now. I asked if someone in the store could help him fill the form out. And they said no, that you must bring two strangers that is not related to you. Who has time to round up two strangers to help purchase a firearm? I don't when there are so many other...
