Decent driving range, has 3 sections: Covered artificial turf tees, grass lesson area, and grass area for irons only. Problem is if you actually want to practice your drives you have to be at the covered artificial truf tees, and furthermore you need to have your own rubber tees for them as you are not allowed to practice drives in front of them.
If you try to tee up in front of them you will get talked to in a very condescending way by an employee even if you are very nice about it when they ask you to move bacm. Quite frankly it put a damper on my whole experience today as I don't have rubber tees and there's not really a way to set up wood tees on the turf pads so I was unable to practice my drives.
Also the last time I came here was the first time I had been here in years so I went to the pro shop to ask how things worked around here and the employee looked at me like I wasn't very bright and was rather condescending during our interaction. Maybe its because im 21 and they arent fond of people my age, but I don't know. I say this because they seemed cheery with others that were older. However I will say other employees were cheery when they came around to pick up range baskets and I brought my baskets over to them the previous time I was here.
Besides the employee interactions I've had and limitations on being able to practice your drive, its a good range with an automated ball vending machine where you can pay with credit card and get 4 different amounts of balls to choose from at reasonable prices. If you can do it, it's easy to hit for multiple hours at a time. You do want to come early though as the range and parking lot fill up quick.
Also I wish there were more target like things to hit at. It can make practicing different distances kind of boring as its mostly just flags at...
Read moreThey need someone on the course making at least some attempt to manage pace of play badly. The course is in fairly good shape and the layout isn’t bad for a short 9 hole but I had maybe the least enjoyable round of golf in my life yesterday.
We were behind a group of teens who clearly weren’t particularly experienced which isn’t a bad thing on its own- you’ve got to learn somewhere. Unfortunately this group was spending as much time passing joints around on the tee box and greens as they were swinging their clubs and had no regard for anyone behind them at all. A layout like these leads to some waiting by nature but the amount of time they took to tee off (multiple times each per hole) with wide open fairway in front of them was insane.
At the 6th hole we finally saw an employee driving around and multiple people talked to him about the pace of this group but he did not seem to care at all. Looked like he got out and said something to them briefly but I have no idea what and it made zero difference. At the time we walked off 6 green there was a group on the fairway waiting to hit, two groups stacked up waiting at the tee box, and two groups waiting to play the 5th hole.
Nobody who plays public courses around here is a stranger to slow pace of play and the course having so many short holes doesn’t help this either but when it feels like the staff does not care about it at all & they’re just stacking up tee times I feel zero reason to go back. Couldn’t make the tee time cheap enough for me to return there now which is a shame because the course itself could be fun to play if you weren’t waiting minutes at a time...
Read moreLooking for a golf course that'll make you feel like a pro, even if you've never touched a club in your life? Look no further than Emerald Lakes Golf Course in Elk Grove, CA.
Now, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not exactly a golfing expert. In fact, I'm pretty sure the last time I played was in a mini-golf course surrounded by animatronic dinosaurs. But let me tell you, when I hit the links at Emerald Lakes, I felt like I was on the PGA Tour.
Maybe it was the perfectly manicured fairways, or the stunning views of the surrounding lakes and forests. Or maybe it was the fact that I managed to hit the ball in the general direction of the hole a few times. Whatever it was, I was having a blast.
And let's talk about the course itself. It's challenging enough to keep experienced golfers on their toes, but forgiving enough that even a beginner like me could enjoy it. Plus, there's a driving range and putting green to help you practice your swing before you hit the course.
But the real highlight of Emerald Lakes? The wildlife. I saw more ducks, geese, and squirrels on this course than I've ever seen in my life. They must know how beautiful the course is and just want to hang out.
Overall, if you're looking for a fun and beautiful golfing experience, Emerald Lakes Golf Course is the place to be. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete novice like me, you're sure to have a great time on this stunning course. And who knows, maybe you'll even make a few furry friends...
