Plants and Things — Local services in Elk River

It is a shame that a local company is also a scammer. They entice you in with "sale" signs but they are up every day of the year. That is not a sale, that is your actual price. Speaking of price, they are at minimum DOUBLE the prices of the same products elsewhere. Most are closer to three times the price. These are supposedly their "sale" prices for their perpetual sale. I was really hoping this place would have great products for a local company price, but I was very wrong. I have gone through about 90% of their selection and compared it to other locations that sell the same things, so the comparison has been verified. An example is a common wood bluebird house: Sold for roughly $50 at Plant's and Things, can be found for $10-$20 ANYWHERE ELSE. Their structures were on average $6,000 higher than other places. I see the owner's claiming their products are made in the USA and by Amish. That may be true but they definitely don't need their prices to be multiplied out of this world. I know all businesses need to make a profit to survive but the profit margins here must be gigantic. A little tip for your business- if you lowered your prices to compete with others (and actually in the realm of reasonable) then you would actually sell products. This would allow you to sell more product and move your inventory instead of most of your inventory sitting in the weather and getting destroyed. You may not get such a large profit margin out of each item but you would sell more items resulting in 1) more money in your pocket, 2) happier customers, 3) repeat customers (which is what you want), and 4) a way to move your enormous inventory. What an absolutely fantastic experience my wife and I had with Plants and Things! From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to help us find exactly what we were looking for. We ended up picking out a beautifully designed, extremely well-built shed that far exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and craftsmanship.

One thing that really stood out to us was how accommodating and understanding the team was. The spot we chose for the shed required a proper landscaping foundation, and they were completely patient while I took the extra time to prepare the area. Not once did we feel rushed or pressured—they worked with our timeline and made the process smooth and stress-free.

When delivery day came, the crew who brought and installed the shed were just as impressive. They were professional, efficient, and detail-oriented, making sure everything was perfectly leveled and set up just right. It’s clear they take pride in their work, and the finished result shows it.

First, as a resident of the Twin Cities, if you haven’t been here, this place is a must see! A super fun place with such beautiful things...a Gardner’s dream! We bought a beautiful, well built shed from here. The delivery guys just left. The whole experience from start to finish was impeccable! Friendly and helpful staff, relaxed purchase experience, the credit department couldn’t be any prettier ; ) When it was delivered it was spot on for date and time slot. The guys who delivered and placed it in our yard were so nice and friendly and great at what they do. I wish I got their names. They were all about making us happy.
