I purchased a fiberglass truck topper through Niemeyer in June for my new 2024 pickup truck. They were about $100 more expensive than two other truck accessory stores, but their delivery time was a little faster and were family owned/operated so I was fine with paying a little extra. Both the owners were very friendly and polite each time that we spoke.
When I arrived for my installation appointment, I was told by the owner that he had accidentally scratched the paint that morning (damaged by a framing square that fell in the shop). He showed me the 3 inch long scratch (1/8" wide) on the side over the sliding window and said he could either fix it, or give me a partial refund. He advised to get the topper installed that day to get the brake light wired, and said I could decide what to do after that.
When they finished the install I was surprised to see they had applied touchup paint to the scratch (without asking or telling me before hand) which covered the white exposed fiberglass but was still clearly visible and noticeable. I thanked him (assuming it would be corrected when it got repainted/fixed) and said I'd be in touch the next week to schedule the repair.
Two days later I found the 3rd brake light hanging off of the topper. I looked to find it was installed with grey double sided foam tape. I pressed the light back into place and called their office to notify them of the brake light and schedule a drop off to fix the paint damage. I also pointed out the brake light to the owner when I arrived the following week for the repairs. He told me there are no screws to mount the light (and that it's meant to be installed with tape) but that he would replace it and make sure it was correct after the paint repairs were finished.
I returned a week later and had the topper re-installed. Upon inspection, the paint damage looked better but the 3 inch line of touchup paint was still visible. I asked the owner if "this is the best your paint guy could do" and he said "it looks a lot better." He looked at it on the truck with me and said "no one would see it in a million years". I reluctantly thanked him and left hoping it would improve once I washed it. (There were several areas with a thin layer of over spray from the buffing compound that hand not been cleaned after the repair.)
I washed the truck later that day and (now sitting in full sunlight) it was pretty apparent that the scratch got buffed and clear coated but the damage was never sanded/repainted (as the touch up paint was still visible). The 3rd brake light had also come loose again and did not appear to be fixed. (I have since removed the grey dealer tape that failed and replaced it with 3M auto molding tape and had no issues). Add in the three trips I've made to the dealer during this process, and it's been a frustrating experience.
I agree that their paint repair looks better than the large white scratch, but it is still visible and is certainly not what I'd expect after spending $2500+ for a new topper. Being told the paint damaged they caused would be fixed, and then returning to hear "no one will ever see the damage we caused and tried to correct" (paraphrased) seems like a pretty clear indicator that it was not fixed the way it should be. Any further efforts I make to get the paint repaired are now going to require two more trips somewhere, and additional out of pocket costs for me.
Again, both the owners were very friendly and polite whenever I spoke with them but I'm left very disappointed in this whole process, and would probably not recommend them to others for...
Read moreThey took forever to get my topper and when they finally did they had is installed too far back, the color isn't a perfect match and the inside trim is put in poorly. I pointed out the positioning and was told that is don't on purpose to keep the topper from hitting the cab. Ok. I moved it myself. They blamed the color on clear coat. I can live with the color being a shade off but it should be noted, they had the color code and didn't match the color on a new truck. FF a year and it's become more difficult to close my back glass. It was hard from day one but now its not latching at all. The bolts have began to oxidize, the velcro they used to hold the control box has let loose and the trim has only gotten worse. I called to see what could be done and got no answer 40 minutes prior to closing. Frustrated I began taking on the corrections myself. I replaced all the nuts and boots with stainless steel and used thread lock. I cut away extra foam seal that had been blocking my tailgate from opening properly and mounted the remote control box to the inside corner where it should have been all along by using zip ties and I combined the wire loom to 1 loom. At this point it almost looks professionally done. I had to align the glass hatch after removing the hinges but I got that perfect after only a couple tries. The hatch closes with ease now. From niemeyer's I has to smash it down hard pressing over the left side latch to get it to latch. I still haver gotten around to fixing the hack job done on the interior trim but I will eventually as I am not bringing it back to...

Working with Niemeyers was so easy. We had been doing months of shopping at big chains for our first camper and it never felt right. Something always felt off and we were always frustrated by the process.
We went to Niemeyers and on the first visit found the perfect camper for our family. It was easy and low pressure. The salesman was knowledgeable and knew his stuff! I fully trusted Niemeyers throughout the whole process.
The day we picked up the camper, they gave us ample time to go through the camper to make sure we understood how to use everything. They went above and beyond.
Thank...
