We went to Difiore today for the first time after their long anticipated opening.
We tried the chicken parm and meatball grinders which were great. The cheese Sicilian pizza was also fantastic. Also got rainbow cookies and orange ricotta cookies both which were great. Took home cavatelli pasta and basil pesto cream sauce to cook at a later date. In the past from the farmers market Iāve purchased on multiple occasions, their bacon tenderloin ravioli and garlic cream sauce which I love.
Their ravioli, pasta and sauce selections in the freezers are great. They have a deli counter that wasnāt stocked but would have options like chicken cutlets, eggplants cutlets, and various salads to go. Lots of dessert choices. Fresh flavored balsamics and olive oils you can buy. In addition to the sandwiches you can purchase pasta dishes to dine in, on the patio or to go.
Iām giving a 5 because the food is excellent, and I see the potential here. The place is beautiful. But there are ALOT of kinks to work out. This was their opening weekend so I believe they will get there in good time and with more staff training. 1.) food orders - you have to either take names, provide an order number, something. We waited 45 minutes for our 3 sandwiches and some other every rude customers were demanding their food from the staff while we still waited patiently for ours. Wrong orders were coming out and people had long wait times and were clearly frustrated. It doesnāt help when customers make the situation worse though, like this one gentlemen. Multiple customers who ordered after us with more complicated orders got their food first. It was like a free for all it felt like. But again the sandwiches were great. 2.) needs to be signage of where to pay, where to order, what direction to move. It was SO extremely crowded and their were people everywhere and no one knew where they should be going which made it very challenging. People were just jumping in front of of everyone else and it was chaos.
Overall amazing place. Such a fresh, local business to add to town and one that will do very well here. We will be frequent customers through all the bumps!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to DiFiore's Ellington location on opening weekend and had a great experience. The place was packed with people buying takeout and ordering hot meals. They have about 6 tables outside with umbrellas and seating available inside. We ordered raviolis and waited outside. Before we ordered, they let us know the wait is a little longer than they'd like due to there being so many people there, the inside was literally packed with people! We said we didn't mind waiting. They brought the food out to us, along with some slices of delicious focaccia and offered free cookies due to the long wait (which didn't honestly even feel that long). Everything was hot and delicious. I will definitely be visiting again for both eating in, take out or just buying some fresh pasta (or sauce, or soup etc.) for meal planning. Love having a local business like this and I can't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast week I stopped into DiFiore for the first time. I just got some pasta salad for a get together, but I was really impressed with the customer service, the cleanliness of the store, and the products they offered. The pasta salad was delicious, and I ended up going back today for a couple of meatball grinders. There was a little bit of a hiccup with my order, and I ended up having to wait for a bit, but the lady working (maybe an owner) was incredibly kind and apologetic. Iāve worked in the restaurant business for years, so I get that stuff happens, but she went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of when all was said and done. Itās obvious that their guests are important to them. The grinders were fantastic, and the cookies she gave me for the long wait were insanely good. I canāt wait to visit again and try out more of their incredible...
