My wedding this weekend was absolutely beautiful. Iām so grateful to Palm Island Resort and my makeup, photo, bakery and video vendors. I made one epic mistake. Shear sailing. I cannot express how incredibly disappointed I was with this entire experience. This was the most unprofessional encounter I have ever had with anyone in the service industry. Iāve been in several weddings and had my hair professionally done many times and never in my life have I been so dissatisfied. They showed up an hour late and had the gall to treat me with attitude and disrespect talking about not having enough outlets or āwork conditionsā (in a 5 star resort) Um. Hi. Donāt offer an on-site option and charge me $100 for a travel fee, show up late with no time to set up with not so much as an extension cord and then give me attitude. Even when they showed up with 4 people an hour late, I felt we might be ok but apparently none of them actually know how to do hair because they just jumped from head to head poking around trying to figure out what they were doing. At the end of the day, they stressed all of us out and were completely rude. Didnāt hold up their end of the bargain at all. I thought the mandatory 20% on $85 was very overpriced. Now I understand, no one would ever tip this terrible group of āprofessionals ā. After they left 5 out of the 6 of us had to redo our hair. I was late to my own first look because these people didnāt know what the heck they were doing. If I could give 0 stars I would. Brides, whatever you do...keep looking. Anyone else, find another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI set up an appointment front desk and was supposed to get a "master hair tech" for my hair. I wanted highlights and some purple peek a boos. I was quoted between 180 to 200. I got there and a walk in who new the owner went ahead of me so I ended up getting a new girl who was just learning she kept stopping every 3 minutes to ask if a highlight went here or there. I assumed because she was not a "master tech" that obviously I wasn't going to be charged so much which most salons offer discounts when you get a student. She asked me if I wanted some pink added that she had opened and I said sure just 2 highlights of the pink. She completed my hair and it was messed up the owner came over after it was dry tried adding color and wetting it strand by strand and it still didn't look good. She told me to come back and she would fix it. NOW I get to payment thinking this definitely isn't going to be as much boy was I wrong she told me 250 because the girl opened another color I said NO she had that open and asked if I wanted to try it so the owner agreed to 220 which was still BS. I came back and FINALLY had this master hair tech lmao fix my hair after she added the correct amount of highlights she told me if you want it blow dried that will be 40 more dollars WHAT? I told her no thanks I'll walk out with it wet that makes you look bad not me this was a few years ago but you know every time I drive pass this place I think about how they screwed me out of so much money when I was a stay at home mom. So...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ladies in the back must do a great job for this salon to get good reviews because the older woman at the reception desk needs to be trained on how to properly speak to customers. I arrived 5 minutes prior to my appt for a manicure/pedicure and show courtesy for other people's schedules by not being late. I was a new customer and the only one in the waiting room. Normally, the receptionist would know, or at least guess, that I was their next appointment and greet me as such... with a welcoming smile.
Instead, the woman asked, "Can I help you?" with an off-putting tone of disdain that made me feel immediately uncomfortable. I quickly learned that you have to wear a mask at this salon and I didn't have mine and didn't want to wear one of theirs. I'm paying good money to treat myself to a little bit of pampering -- not be miserable stuck in a mask for two hours. As well, I won't patronize any service if those providing it are rude and unappreciative of my business. The woman made it clear that I wasn't welcome unless I wore a mask, so I left.
The irony is this same woman scheduled my appointment when I called. She should have told me then that I would be required to wear a mask, but she didn't. Had she, I wouldn't have scheduled an appointment and wasted my precious time and gas on a place that...
