Fraternal Order of Eagles 427 — Local services in Evansville

I do not recommend this place for a wedding reception. We were given a copy of our contract that said we would get $100 back on our payment if we cleaned up after ourselves. Not only did we clean up after the wedding reception and put everything back like they asked, we had to clean the place BEFORE the reception. When we got there to set up, the place was freezing cold and they were aware the day before of what time I would arrive to set up. Took 8 hours to warm up (right about the time we were finally leaving for the day). Then, there were dead crickets everywhere - the bathroom floors, the dance floor, and all around the tables. My wedding planner spent about 4 hours cleaning the whole place, the bathrooms had flies in the toilets and one was leaking water. They have a janitor, but when we told them about the crickets, we had to ask for a vacuum cleaner to clean it up ourselves. Then they didn’t even want us to come in the front entrance for the reception because it would be too many people coming through their bar and disrupting the other people there (my entire wedding including the bridal party consisted of 33 people). Instead, they wanted us to use the side entrance by the dumpster, which looked rusted and run-down. I was embarrassed to tell my wedding guests to even use that entrance. We cleaned our mess - put everything back like they asked, took the trash out, and left everything the way it was before (minus the dead crickets of course) - and still did not receive our $100 back that the contract stated we would get for cleanup. We called 3 times over that next month to get our $100 back, and always got excuses that the “person who handles that” wasn’t in the office but that we could “leave a message.” We left messages, never got a call back, and never got our money back. We finally gave up and decided $100 was not worth our wasted time since they obviously weren’t going to give...

The Fraternal Order of the Eagles is organization that is steeped in a lot of history with clubs that are spread internationally. For one they started Mother's Day, they support st. Jude Hospital, Riley Hospital, Ronald McDonald House. Just a few of the organisations that we help support. Our club #427 has the best dance floor in town. There are line dance lessons on Tuesday, the Bop Club on Wednesday, and ballroom dancing on Thursday. Friday and Saturday's we has either live music or a DJ. We also have a LARGE back room that we rent for weddings, birthday parties, , etc. that accommodates 250 guests. Most horrible experience I've ever had with a place to hold an event at!! Had my wedding there and it was awful!!! Bartender was drunk and people couldn't find her anywhere. People kept asking me if there was a Bartender!?!? Bartender let strangers in at my private event that I paid for. I have strangers in my wedding pictures. The arch that was promised to me had gotten thrown away. Nobody told me that until the night before when I showed up to decorate for my wedding the next day. Bartender was drunk that night and showed up the next day at 1:00pm and smelled of alcohol already. This place and the people running it are just awful.
