I have always ALWAYS supported John's Produce, and try to go there over the new dollar general that just came in, but the way I was treated there today, I will never come back here again.
My son was almost asleep in the car but when I pulled in he woke up and started crying. He was not stopping, and just fyi it's illegal to leave them in the car by yourself, so I brought him in.
I needed salt for dinosaur bones that we're making at home and I thought I'd look see if they had any toy dinosaurs to use for footprints, so I walked through the toy isle before grabbing the salt.
The man at the register obviously had a problem with it and told me I needed to get what I came for and leave, within 30 seconds of me being there.
So I started walking towards the door. Didnt say anything, wasn't rude, was just leaving because he had a problem with me being there.
As I was almost to the door he had to add "you arent very smart are you"
Then the older lady employee (there was noone else in the store other than the 3 employees) said "look she doesnt even have any socks on her kid".
Yeah, he like to tear his socks and shoes off every time he gets in the car. So sorry that I dont stand up to your parenting styles or that I'm dumb for trying to educate my children at home and support local small business rather than big chain stores.
But dont worry John's, this dumb customer wont be coming there again.
Side note, I understand that you are to use caution when going out, and I was. Things weren't being touched and we had literally just got there. I dont mind that he said something about getting what I needed, because the virus is a real threat, but those comments from both employees were completely rude and...
Read moreA customer no more! My son lives in White Cloud and is a regular customer, as in a few time per week. Whenever we are visiting, we always stop at John's Produce. This afternoon, 11-26-22 my two adult sons purchased 2 steel hatches to cut some small pieces of wood. They bother literally broke within an hour. The first one, the entire metal part came off. The second one, a large of the metal itself broke off. I understand things break but these are hatchets and were used to cut some branches only a few inches in diameter and broke just about immediately. see photos) The fact that they BOTH broke was quite annoying but the real issue we have is the customer service, actually the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. Returned to the store within an hour and half of the purchase expecting to receive some compensation and purchase better quality hatchets. As soon as the items were presented they became accusatory and asked what they were used for. There was not discussion, no "sorry we don't provide refunds, just outright hostile nastiness and rudeness. This attitude was from both the check out woman's boss and an older gentleman (perhaps the owner?)? There was a much better way they could have handled the situation. The store has a steady stream of business because they have a bit of everything but if this is how they treat loyal customers, it will eventually catch up with them. They will not get any, absolutely zero of my business. There is a hardware store in White Cloud and a Walmart & Meijer in Fremont. Well worth the little extra drive. I will leave reviews on additional sites as well as contacting the BBB. We don't expect any response or compensation at this point, but it is a matter...
Read moreI was a loyal customer of Johns produce for the last 20+ years until today. I live less than a mile away. I have spend thousands of dollars each year at this location. Last night my son spent $16 dollars on a rubber band gun that lasted less than 2 hours when we went to return it they refused to let us return it as he broke it and his fault "he was rough with it". A $16 dollar toy should last longer 2-hours. Any other stores including Walmart would of returned it. Had the toy been a $ 5 dollar toy I would not of tried to return it but he worked for the money to buy it. The owners words were she works hard for her money and she would not take a loss for a boy being rough with a toy. I work hard for my money too, but I take a loss at times for the sake of my clients. She has lost a loyal customer. Though my business might not matter to her this time of year with the greenhouse so busy. Beware of a owners attitude like this before you purchase from them. Especially eager little children. I am heartbroken as the store was convenient for us to go, and we like to support local business first but we will not be going there anymore. I will take my...
