I have played there 3 times recently. And the only reason is because other local courses usually get booked up well in advance and they were the only course we could get tee times at that worked for everyone. It is a pretty course, but the 3 star rating is for a couple of reasons. 1st of them being yardage markers. The markers are little plaques that are embedded almost flat on the cart paths and worn out because carts drive over them, or just a spray painted line also on the cart path. Imagine teeing off on a par 4, your drive ends up on the left side of the fairway and you drive up to your ball. Now you look for a marker so you can determine if you’re 140 out or 170 out but you can’t because the only yardage marker is a plaque or spray painted line that’s flat on the cart path on the right side of the fairway. So you guess and either come up short or fly the green. Most courses have visible upright stakes on both sides of the fairway as well as flat markers in the fairway.... not Mountain View. 2nd is the bunkers.... Most of us recreational golfers will end up in a greenside bunker at least 2 times per round. The bunkers are horrible. The majority of them are hard packed sand and when you end up in one, you will be in a footprint or worse . When asked, the response was “Because of COVID, we don’t add sand to the bunkers anymore.” No rakes either. Every time you end up in a greenside bunker, be prepared to easily add 3 strokes your score on that hole. Lastly, if you tee off before 8 am, bring your own food. Nothing like biting into a cold in the middle of a $4 hot dog when you stop for a bite at the...
Read moreWhere do I even begin. I’m not one to ever make a Google reviews, but this course was so atrocious that I had to. It started at the front desk where the desk employee was extremely rude. I was two minutes late to a tee time but probably waited nearly 5 minutes for him to help the customer in front of me. Despite the circumstances he was extremely rude. The starter was somehow even ruder, and scoffed when I arrived at the first hole. He suggested I join up with a walker who was coming in a few minutes later and I obliged. However as soon as the other golfer arrives at the teebox the starter begins barking at us. Screaming things like “go!!” and saying “what are you waiting for???“. By the third hole, a different starter was driving around the course trying to keep pace of play (even though the pace was horrendous the entire round). He actually started shouting at us, asking when our teetime began, right as I was in my back swing. A few holes later, he started his cart up again as I was in my backswing teeing off. Finally, the course refused to give me a rain check because I had booked on GolfNow When I called GolfNow, they called the course to verify the conditions, and the same man in the clubhouse said that the course was very playable. This was on the tails of him giving the customer behind me (who had not booked on GolfNow) a rain check immediately without any questions. DO NOT come to this course. The customer service is not only subpar, it...
Read moreMy name is David and I am using my wife’s Gmail account to post this review. I am a frequent player of the Mercer County courses. This is my seventh round this season but my first at Mountain View and unfortunately will be my last. We had a foursome and all of us were so disappointed. The course is in awful shape for the prices they charge (which on average went up $10 from last year.) The tee boxes aren’t cut, the fairways aren’t in good shape and they must have aerated the greens within the past week (and did a lousy job.) I’ve often wondered why golf courses don’t let their golfers know when they aerate!!! Also, they have switched caterers and are without a liquor license at this time. That doesn’t matter to me but it was the first thing that the bartender said when we made the turn. And I might add that there wasn’t one person in the restaurant or outside on the patio eating or having a beverage. It actually gave off the impression that they were going out of business. Lastly to my golf comrades, please stay away from this course. I promise your disappointment will be too...
