ALDI — Local services in Excelsior Springs

Initial 3 star review* Lots of the fruit and produce is average to below average in quality. However the prices are great. The main problem I have is based on check out. Some of the checkers slam your merchandise into the cart. I've had bruised peaches, Apples, Avacados, even bread kinda smashed. When I confronted one of these people, they kinda freaked out a little. She said, "it's how we were trained, to go fast". Well if they trained you to toss merchandise from a foot above a hard metal basket into the bottom, then your training sucks.

They have many great deals of food for less cost than Walmart. Some good some bad. The store is a 3 out of 5 in my opinion. I shop there 2-3 times a week. The manager is always on the side of the building smoking, but have a very large policy on how many breaks you get a day.

Now a new location and the store is amazing Same manager who smokes out back all day every day! The aisles are wide, the stock is amazing. All sorts of imports from Germany, France, and various European countries. The prices are fantastic, and the quality of meats is amazing. The veg and fruit has to be checked through to make sure you pick the best stuff, but the food is great! ALDIs is my favorite place to shop locally, and the prices are fantastic....

Never any employees on the floor to assist with questions or help find an item in this new store. Check outs with usually only 1 checker. Yesterday I couldn't find an item, no employee on the floor to ask. So I got in line to check out. The checker asked me if I found everything, I said NO. She then told me where it was located but there were several people behind me in line and I couldn't just go get it and the checker didn't offer to page an employee to go get it and bring it to the checkout out so I paid, bagged my groceries and took them out to my car. I then went back into Aldi's and got the item I couldn't find and paid cash for it. As I got to the door I realized I was shorted on my cash. I went right back to the same checker and told her, you shorted me on my cash, I gave you a $20 bill. She didn't even look at my receipt and handed me a $10 bill and said, oh sorry. Ok how did she know she shorted me exactly $10 without looking at the receipt or me telling her??? Shame on you, you...

Aldi has some great food choices these days. Grateful for the organic choices. They need to get their act together at the registers though. Can't count how many times I've stood in lines going almost to the back of the store while the ONE CASHIER does nothing to to remedy the situation. There have been times I've gone over and knocked on the manager's office door or went hunting for help in the back. Surely there's more than ONE damn person in the store. There have also been times that the manager was there, but the corporate white shirts were bossing him around and ignoring the growing, impatient line of customers. Come on guys, get it together. I've written to Aldi's corporate office about this even called them once, but nothing ever gets better. If the Gods are smiling on you, you can occasionally get a short line or a line with no one at all, but that's not the norm, maybe happens 1 out of 20 trips. Fix it.
