One of the easiest and most visited viewpoints in Sequoia National Park is Amphitheater Point. It is one of the many 180-degree turns at the Generals Hwy scenic byway.

There is a long turnout parking lot and a tiered viewpoint with concrete railings to sit on. You can enjoy a great view of the stunning Moro Rock, the lush green landscape, and the steep elevation change from the foothills to granite alpine peaks with the blue sky as the backdrop. Great photo ops.

Be very careful when pulling in or out your car because highway car speeds are often high and...

Amphitheater Point is a pullover stop along the General's Highway between the Foothills and Giant Forest. It is located after a series of switchbacks. You can pullover your vehicle and enjoy very good views into the foothills below and Moro Rock still above you.

We enjoyed a 2-3 minute stop here to look back down and see the river running through the foothills. The sky was clear allowing us to see Moro Rock nicely as well. Probably not worth making a stop here if facing cloudy conditions but we'd definitely pullover again when...

If you are driving from sequoia national park HQ (tree rivers) to grand grove this is a very good pullover spot to stop after very winding roads. It has also a spectacular view and helping to have a break on driving. The winding roads with change in altitude might be a challenge especially for passengers in the car, so prepare for it.
