DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS TO FIX YOUR WALK-IN FREEZER/COOLER
One of the fans in my walk-in freezer stopped running, so I called B and C. They sent two technicians out promptly. One of them got the fan unstuck and running again, told me the motor was going bad, likely to get stuck again if don't replace its motor. They'd come back the next day to replace it. That part made sense and I appreciated the honesty. Then he left.
But the other tech decided to stay behind and asked how to access the condenser. I was skeptical, but showed him the access panel up top. He climbed up and down repeatedly, kept adjusting the timer, checking his phone, and was up there for about 45 minutes. He looked like he had no clue what he was doing. I kept asking him over and over again if everything was okay - he kept saying he was just checking things.
When he was about to leave, I began to notice the freezer wasn’t running AT ALL—no lights, no defrost mode. I asked what was going on, and he said he was “just playing around with the condenser" to see if he can put it in a "wait mode"(?!), and that it "should kick back on in an hour by itself". He left with a nervous look on his face. Three hours later, the freezer was getting warm and still not running. I tried calling him—no answer. I then called the other tech what came out with him earlier that morning, he came back out, had no clue what went wrong, and only manage to get it back running again by replacing the defrost timer—which was practically new and still under warranty.
I told him what had happened, what his partner did, and why would his partner stayed around messing with the condenser when it was just the fan's motor gone bad. He said he’d “reconsider the labor.”
Next day, the same tech who messed with the condenser returned to replace the fan motor. He was here for about 45 minutes—but charged me for 1.5 hours. On top of that, they also charged me for the other tech coming back to fix what his partner broke.
I emailed their office immediately asking them to revise the invoice. I said I’m happy to pay for the fan motor replacement, but I will not pay for time spent “messing with the condenser” that caused the breakdown, nor should I be charged for the return visit to undo that mistake. No response.
A month later, they sent me the same invoices again—and my freezer broke down again. This time, I called WHV. The technician from WHV got it all fixed and said, “Whoever worked on this before clearly didn’t know what they were doing.”
Save yourself the stress and the cost. This company doesn’t take responsibility for their mistakes and clearly lacks the experience to handle commercial...
Read moreDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This company will leave you and your family in the cold in the middle of winter with no heat. We had them out for a repair on January 4th 2022. The techs told me they found a leak and were going to town for lunch, make some phone calls, and would return. They didn't. I called their boss and he said their was a misunderstanding and that he needed to call a supplier about a part. After a week passed, when I called he said he was in the middle of service call and would call me back. He didn't call back for over 7 weeks. Needless to say we called another company and they had us fixed up in 6 hours. Now we get a bill, and while they did apologize for letting us "fall through the cracks" and "we were too busy" amongst other excuses, they did apologize doing the bare minimum to help us on the bill (approx 10% break). I wouldn't use this company again after they left me and my family (3 daughters under 6) in the middle of winter without heat or even a phone call.
Update (response to owner) - I give you some credit for owning up to your mistakes. However, it's laughable to think the backup heat sources you mention could heat our entire home during the coldest months of the year. These are backup systems only meant to bridge small gaps in power disruption, not serve as primary heat sources. The hot water heater running the in floor heat could barely maintain 58 degrees in the rooms it serviced. The little propane fireplace kept the room it was in warm, but the rest of the house was in the high 50's or when the sun was out in the low 60's....so yeah it didn't work, so please don't try and save face by putting it back on me and just own...
Read moreMike from B&C installed a new gas water heater in my home in the morning. There was a gas odor after he left. I called Nicole and asked if Mike could come back with a gas detector. Mike came back that afternoon, but not with a gas detector. He tested for leaks with soap and water, not able to find the leak. The gas odor became very strong overnight. I was concerned about having an explosion in the house. I contacted Nicole in the morning and she said "I do not have any techs available this morning. If they get things done in a timely manner today I sure can send Mike back out and see what he can find." I responded saying B&C should be concerned about the liability of a gas leak and she should talk to her boss about getting someone to my house with a gas detector. Mike came out between jobs. He brought a gas detector this time. He found the leak within 5 seconds of turning the gas detector on. He reinstalled the fitting to the water heater and there is no more odor!
I was happy with B&C's price quote, the fact that they charged me what they quoted, and the ability to schedule the water heater installation when I needed it. I would give 5 stars if it was not for the gas leak, that the gas leak was not fixed on the first return trip, and the laundry room floor was left muddy on initial...
