Fairhope Recreation Center — Local services in Fairhope

Not a recreation center! Private facility due to the fact it isn't open to the public even if they are willing to pay. Membership only. They allowed people to pay per visit at one point in time to use this facility now it is Membership only. It's a shame they don't allow residents of this area to use it and keep kids occupied during the summer considering there isn't a whole lot of water activities in fairhope or things for young kids to do period in this area. It's all about status in this town as usual. They say they want to keep kids out of trouble and keep them from being involved in harmful activities, however this community does not show that in any way. They definitely do not take into consideration that not everyone in this town is loaded with a ton of extra money to throw at a membership but would like to pay for a day at the pool or use of a indoor basketball facility for the afternoon so their kids to stay out of trouble or be active instead of being in front of a device all day long . As nice as these facilities come off as they are just that private facilities, not recreational centers. Always about pulling in as much money as they can to purchase more outside decor for the community, but they don't actually put anything into the most important part of our community, our children and seniors who are on fixed incomes. Used the indoor lap pool. You can only get in as a member or a guest of a member. Fortunately as we drove an hour to get there as there are so few facilities in Mobile the reception took pity on us. The pool is very old and needs serious upgrades, water was over chlorinated, the changing were freezing as the cooling system is in there as well. Going out of the warm swimming area to the cold changing rooms not fun!
