Updating my review - I had previously given this salon 5 stars. I’ve been in here a total of three times, and they have a great atmosphere and my last two haircuts were awesome.
My last appointment was with Cher. The appointment went ok but her demeanor made me a bit uncomfortable and I felt like she wasn’t really listening to me. After the haircut she blew my hair out in a really weird way and in the moment I told her “this isn’t how I normally style my hair so I can’t tell if I like it.” She ignored me and kept going, and later made a comment that “your hair behaves so nicely.” That felt to me like a really weird thing to say, especially because I don’t care how my hair behaves when someone is styling it in a way that I find strange (and told them so).
When I got home, I was finally able to do something more normal with it and discovered that it was longer on one side. I wasn’t surprised because she hadn’t bothered to check if it was even after cutting it. Before I left I had asked her to trim one side a little more because I could tell it was longer. I had to do this twice because she wasn’t really looking at it, just seemed a little annoyed at the inconvenience.
Cher had offered to text her if I needed a touch-up. I did so. She jerked me around on the timing for when I should come in, 4:15…4:30…then texted me right beforehand saying I could come at 4. I can’t adjust my work hours on a whim like that, and it didn’t seem like she cared at all what time would work for me. I don’t expect that kind of attitude from someone I just gave 30% tip to.
I could see coming back into this salon and trying to work with other stylists - overall the place seems nice and I’ve had good experiences there before. This most recent one has just really been...
Read moreI feel a long overdue update is in order. I first came to the salon on a recommendation for Sawyer (who has sadly relocated since)... nonetheless these ladies have talent, personality, and care for their clients.
So my next appointment I was supposed to see Valorie but sadly I had and an emergency that day. I called to cancel very last minute and felt terrible because it was very little notice to Valorie and they OF COURSE did not charge me and were more worried that I was okay. When I was finally able to rebook a couple weeks later I saw Emalee and shes was just wonderful. The girls know very little about me... inquired how I was doing learning I had been through some DEVASTATING recent heartbreak . Furthermore the owner comped a portion of my services in support and compassion for my situation. This goes above and beyond just providing salon services.... this gives back to the community and spreading love to all around you!
Emalee is talented, friendly, and is a lot of fun to talk to. I enjoy time in her chair when I get to have an adult conversation away from my very full time mommy life.
Also on a past occasion Melanie invited us back to the salon for a fundraiser for a local client's family who tragically lost their daughter to suicide. My two little girls were so excited to get pink tinsel and streaks put in their hair "at mommy's salon."
These ladies are WAY more than just a salon, the are a thread of the community and care so much...
Read moreAfter going to Emalee, the owner several times and having very good results, I had a horrible final experience. My hair ended up super dark. After her apologizing profusely and trying to lighten two different times, she charged me a total of $400 plus dollars. When I texted and asked for a refund for the last visit since going dark was never my intent, she refunded me my last visits (about $160). Nothing horrible was said, no drama, I simply said I didn’t feel like I should have to pay to have it lightened since she dyed my super blonde hair chocolate brown and I looked like a striped zebra . She refunded me and that was that, but she then sent me a text firing me as a client, blocked me on the salons Facebook page, even after I gave several recommendations, and blocked me from booking with any other stylist (fine by me). She then blocked my daughter who had nothing to do with ANY of it… blocked her as a salon follower on insta and Facebook and blocked my daughter from being able to book with ANY stylist… I’m so confused by this hostile behavior as a result of asking for one of my three paid visits to be refunded. I told her I had nothing but good things to say about her in our text,….. until this. This is petty and childish behavior. As a salon owner and a business, you should be ashamed of your poor behavior. Thank you for the refund… sorry your pride was so hurt by your mistake that you took it out on your customers. Best advice:...
