I had an absolutely horrible experience from this airport due to complete incompetence and negligence that ultimately made me waste $50 worth of gas and 5 hours of my time. It started off with my checked carry-on bag not making it onto my connecting flight in Phoenix AZ - which is not the issue whatsoever. I completely understand bags can get delayed with connecting flights and I figured my bag would arrive the next day. I talked to someone at baggage claim when I landed, and they said I could either come back when the bag gets in or opt for their free delivery service they offer. This is where I messed up because I chose to have my bag delivered to me instead of just driving the 2.5 hours there and 2.5 hours back the following day. Instead, I had to wait 8 days until I got my bag returned to me. This is the storyline of events that followed in those 8 days of hell. I arrived knowing my bag was delayed on a late Wednesday night. I received a phone call from the Fargo airport the following day (Thursday) saying they have my bag and that I can either come pick it up or they will deliver it to me free of charge. I gave them my address and said I would like it delivered to me. When I asked how long it would take and who it would be delivered through, she said probably FedEx and it would go out the next day (Friday). In my mind I was absolutely okay with this since I figured I would get my bag Monday or Tuesday. I was unbelievably wrong. When my bag didn’t show on Monday, I started to get worried and decided to reach out to the airline company I flew with since IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TALK TO A REAL PERSON AT THIS AIRPORT!!! They then told me my bag was still. at. baggage. claim… just sitting there. Like why is it still there when someone called me on Thursday and told me they would send it out on Friday??? So, then the person I am messaging from the airline I flew with tells me they will expedite the shipping, and I will be notified of the tracking information when my bag gets picked up to be delivered. So, I’m thinking okay yay I will finally get my necessities that I need and have been without for 5 days now. WRONG!! I wait all day Tuesday for anything, a phone call, email, text, anything that tells me my bag is on the way…NADA. Not a peep! So, by Wednesday morning I am fed up and message the airline people yet again. I ask the same thing, if my bag is on its way for delivery and they said nope, it is still at the baggage claim in Fargo. I am absolutely livid at this point and tell them to give me a phone number so I can talk to them and tell them I am driving the 5 total hours to get my bag myself because they are incompetent. They lie and say they spoke to the desk and that my bag will be waiting for me when I go to get it. You all can guess what happens, I’m sure. I drive 2.5 hours hoping my bag is still there because I don’t quite trust that they would hold my bag but then again, they have had the thing for 6 days now so why would they ship it out now. To my HORROR they say FedEx picked up my bag that morning and they have no way to communicate with the airline, so they have no idea why the airline people said what they said to me. American Airlines I’m talking to you now… count your days because you guys suck for lying to me and costing me 5 hours of my life and the hope my beloved bag was waiting for me. After understanding I will not be getting my bag and the trip to Fargo was a waste of time and money, I thankfully got the tracking information and low and behold I received my bag 8 days after it was lost. Moral of the story, DO NOT under any circumstance depend on this airport's bag delivery system unless you’re fine waiting at the very least a week to...
Read moreI am writing to express my strong concern about the video currently being shown at the TSA security checkpoint at Hector International Airport. The video features Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem delivering a political message that blames “Democrats in Congress” for the ongoing government shutdown and highlights the impact on TSA employees working without pay.
Displaying this type of message within a federal security checkpoint is deeply inappropriate. The content is partisan in nature and creates the appearance that a government agency is being used to promote a political agenda. That use of government resources and facilities raises serious ethical and legal concerns, specifically regarding potential violations of the Hatch Act, which prohibits the use of official authority to influence political outcomes or promote partisan interests.
Airports and TSA checkpoints should remain strictly neutral spaces where travelers are treated equally, without exposure to political messaging from any party. Passengers passing through security are a captive audience, and they should not be subjected to government-produced statements that assign political blame or push partisan narratives.
It is also concerning that this video is not being played in all airports across North Dakota. Reports indicate that it appears in Fargo and Bismarck, but not in Minot, Williston, or Minneapolis. This inconsistency gives the impression of selective targeting, which only deepens the concern that this message is politically motivated.
I am requesting that Hector International Airport immediately review the decision to display this video and take corrective action to remove it. If the content was required or distributed by a federal agency, I urge the airport’s leadership to formally request clarification from the Department of Homeland Security and to suspend the display until an independent review determines whether it complies with federal ethics laws.
The citizens of North Dakota deserve to travel through their airports free from partisan influence or government-sponsored political messaging. Federal facilities must never be used as vehicles for political blame or propaganda.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to hearing what actions will be taken to ensure compliance with the ethical and legal standards expected of public...
Read moreVery very disappointed in our experience today. We were boarded onto the airplane after it had been delayed due to weather. This happens and is not what I am upset about. We get onto the plane and are waiting for them to de ice the plane. Apparently the one American Airlines de icer had broken so they had to ask delta to use there’s and by the time they could de ice the plane the pilot and flight attendants timed out and couldn’t legally fly.
Now we wait for over an hour to go back to the airport. Once we are finally there they tell us that we need to re book all of our connections and that our bags would be brought down to the baggage claim and then we would have to go all the way back through TSA to board any connecting flights.
We wait for 3 hours without any signs of our bags. Everyone on the plane and no one was given there bags. AE flights only had one customer service rep because we all know everyone is under staffed and he was doing his best but ANYONE we tried to talk to about our bags said “I don’t Know I have nothing to do with that”
When we asked if they had anyone at the airport we could talk to they would just say they had no idea and would walk away. So we waited until finally we all had enough and ambushed the customer service counter and called over the Fargo police who was there. He originally told us there was nothing he could do he was only a cop. We kept asking to talk to ANYONE and no one was available or no one cared. Finally after being at the airport since 4:30am we left at 1 with our bags.
Honestly I usually love flying with American Eagle but after this I will do the 4 hour trip if I have to to Minneapolis because this was bad.
On a side note we ended up not being able to go on our trip because this was the only flight for the day so our weekend has been completely canceled.
I think the worst part is NO ONE was willing to help or even try to give us answers. We were the last priority to them and they made that very clear and even communicated that to us. Anyone who did make new flight plans had to re make them because we had to wait for our bagged so they would have missed the flights anyways. We originally had carry ons and they made us check them so this honestly could have all...
