I wish I could give a negative stars. I have been a loyal customer to Farmer John’s for years. Every year I buy a small cemetery blanket for my daughter’s grave. It’s not easy to find small blankets for children’s graves and Farmer John’s always did a nice job for me. Today I stopped in to pick out a blanket with my kids. We picked out the small blanket we wanted, and I took it to the custom desk like I normally do. There were 4 people working at this desk. I asked the first girl I came to if she could add some things to make it pretty for me. She looked at me funny and told me I needed to pick out what I wanted added. That’s never happened before, but fine, my kids choose two sparkly pine cones that cost $1.75 ea. I brought the pine cones back to the desk and asked the same girl if she could add them to the blanket. One of the other women at the desk overheard our conversation, and was very concerned that I needed to pay for the two pine cones that were $1.75 ea. That was obviously not an issue. She then stopped and proceeded to tell me that this was a custom desk and she would have to charge me a $1 a minute to place two pine cones in my cemetery blanket. It was clear that I was bothering these two women at the custom desk. I grabbed the cemetery blanket and the two pine cones, paid and left. My daughter will help me figure out how to install them. Farmer John’s, if I am at your custom desk, I clearly want help. I don’t care if you have to charge me an extra $2 to install two $1.75 pine cones. Buying a cemetery blanket for my daughter is not an easy task. Making it pretty is important to me. Shame on you for making this experience harder. You lost a...
Read moreSold us plants infested with Mites. After informing them about the issue, a manager (Rick) deceitfully, pretended not to know what they were. Later upon questioning him, he admitted to knowing and said they were indeed chiggers. Tiny mites according to the University of Michigan.
Chiggers are tiny mites. They attach to skin pores and feed on skin cells for a few days. Their bite can result a raised bump, fever or rash. During larval feeding, the skin of the host becomes hardened, and a tube forms in which the mouth-parts remain until feeding stops. It is probably the action of the digestive fluid that causes itching at the site of the mouth-part attachment. – University of Michigan
When we asked about a pesticide in which to rid our car, home and plants of them, this manager said it was okay to use it on our wooden furniture in the home (Bad advice.) in addition to several other rude and ignorant comments. Management had a dismissive attitude regarding this issue. There was no need for that since “we” were the ones put out, to try and rid our car, our home of all our new indoor and outdoor plants, which cost hundreds of dollars, of these nasty MITES!
You know, when a company really cares about their customers, it's more friendly. It makes issues like this that arise, so much easier to resolve. Unfortunately, that isn't the case here at Farmer John’s Greenhouse in Farmington Hills, MI.
There are other places to buy our flowers and plants. And since their prices are double what most other greenhouses are, we’ll wind up saving money in the process. Don’t learn the hard way...
Read moreI have always loved the experience I receive at Farmer Johns, I call it my happy place especially during the holidays. But this visit was different, it’s the weekend of Christmas Open house, advertised everywhere and in those advertisements never said normal hours, my fault for assuming they would extend with everything they were offering. Planned a girls night out, got there are 6:15 and fresh popcorn, cookies and coffee set up. Ran into other groups that walked in for ladies night, everyone was shopping and having a great evening, until 20 minutes to seven the announcements started, we need to finish up and cash out. I have been in retail in management for 15 years plus and was never treated so rudely. They even turned the lights off, which I thought was pretty risky as someone could’ve fallen. Very disappointed that they held such a big event for the weekend and didn’t extend hours, second making everyone uncomfortable with the bells and announcements. Everyone in the store wasn’t aware that normal hours for business and ppl drove in from east side and west side. Management please put hours on event posts!!! Not sure I’ll be back this season, pretty dissatisfied with the...
