I tell you from my own tough experience, if you want to train in a group, don't come to this gym. I visit the US as a short term cultural exchange and when I chose this gym no one told me it would be a 24-month contract. The former manager just asked me to sign my name on a small screen without telling me anything about the 24-month contract and no one handed me a copy of the contract or emailed it to me. During the first month of the contract I didn't train for personal reasons and during the second and third months I started training regularly, 3 times a week. But in just two months the new manager changed me to 4 different trainers. This made me completely lose my motivation to work out. But to protect the trainers, I told the manager I wanted to cancel my monthly membership because I was planning to moving and I asked her what I needed to provide for that. At first the manager was very friendly and told me I only needed to provide a new address.
After I provided a new address, the manager started to give me a hard time. I was required to provide a bill or a rental agreement for the new address. But the truth is I couldn't provide a bill or rental contract for the address I planned to move to. So I told the manager that my real reason for wanting to cancel my monthly membership was unprofessional management and changing coaches too often. The manager asked me to pay 60% of the total price of the 24-month contract, which is more than $1,000, before I could cancel the monthly membership if the reason was not moving. And then I realized the existence of the 24-month contract at that time. Since I was about to leave the US, I couldn't prove my move with my rental agreement and bills, but the manager only asked me to provide this to prove it. So I asked my landlord to provide the rental agreement at another address where I was living. But the manager refused my cancellation request on the grounds that there is Anytime fitness chain within 15miles of the new address. It is ridiculous to ask a person visiting the US without a permanent residence to provide a rental agreement and bills to prove she moved. I had to cancel my payment to protect myself from losses. But I was still disappointed that the manager did not give me a professional solution on how to cancel my monthly membership in a reasonable way until I left. Also, their fitness app automatically booked me for a daily group workout so I had to be harassed by text messages every day.
I hope this matter can be taken seriously by a higher manager and give me a reasonable answer. I will retain all email evidence as well as the right to appeal to the court if you have any questions about my cancellation of payment.
I hope that the above problems are only the mismanagement of this gym and not the general problem of Anytime fitness. In the end, to highlight the unprofessional aspects...
Read moreWhen I joined at this location I let them know I was moving from Fayetteville to Raleigh in a week. The address they have on file for me is clearly a Raleigh address. My membership at my prior workout facility had just expired and I didnât want to go a week without working out which is why I joined there before moving. At no time during this process was I informed that there was a 30 day wait period before I could use my fob at other locations. Why would I have joined there, otherwise?! It wasnât until the trainer called to try to schedule my initial consultation that I was told this. And I should mention that he no showed for my appointment. đ I have been trying since then (for almost 2 weeks now)to get a hold of someone to have my membership transferred to my new location. Nobody at the Strickland Bridge location answers the phone no matter how many times I call or what time of day it is and they donât return voicemails. I have even gone so far as to go out of my way to go by there TWICE since moving, during their posted business hrs. Both times there were no employees there. I called the emergency # on their vm. Shawn called me back and said he didnât know why they still have his number on their machine because he lives in CA now and is not affiliated with them anymore. I then called corporate who reached out to the owner and said I should hear from them in 24/48 hrs. That was a week ago and I have yet to hear from them either. Thankfully the folks at my location in Raleigh, are wonderful and have worked with me so I can keep up with my fitness while Strickland Bridge holds onto my membership and refuses to get back me. It seems that theyâre more concerned with their numbers than the actual needs of their members. I would definitely NOT recommend this location and will be seeing about filing a formal complaint...
Read moreI have been a member since the beginning, but I didn't start using the gym until March 2021. I came in and did a fitness consult with Shawn and once I told him my goals he suggested group training. I upgraded my membership to include 3 times a week of group training. I have really enjoyed the group training classes...yes some trainers have been better than others. I even upgraded my membership again to unlimited group training. It has been quite a few different trainers but there are various reasons each have left and its not like the owners can keep the trainers hostage and make them work here...LOL!! Then again it is GROUP training not PERSONAL training, so for me as long as there is a trainer I have been cool with it. The trainers also ask each individual person is there something they are concentrating on and they incorporate something for everyone in the workout for the class. If I had to pick the best trainers I have had for group class it was Mike and Kadeem.
I enjoy coming to this gym it is always clean. The staff is professional and yet also friendly. There was a general manager change and things have been going very well at the gym. Keonikia is doing a real good job. The staff turnover rate has gone down also. If a member has a problem or problems I know from personal experience it is taken care of by the owners. I would and will...
