Vince's is a very extensive nursery and farmers market. It is open all spring and summer, they also sell pumpkins for Halloween and Christmas trees for Christmas. The prices are similar to most farmers markets in the area and I find three nursery prices to be a little cheaper than most. The plants are well cared for, it showed that you are getting something professionally cared for rather than what you see at more general purpose stores in the area. These last! The produce is also of good wicket. One tip to save money is to get the pre-filled baskets, they are very cheap and will priced. The one warning and reason I remove a star is that it's a hassle to get in and out of the small parking lot. There is one strip of parking that directed you to back out onto the side street. It's a small side street, but it gets really busy in weekend in particular. Make sure to avoid it Saturday between 4:30-6:30 and Sundays until after 1:00 pm to not run into the church traffic from St. Philip Neri. At other times (when there is no school in session) you can park in their lot. Which for small trips is worth it to avoid the hassle of...
Read moreI have spent at least $500 every year at Vince's for the past 20 years. Unfortunately this year I had a bad experience with the owner Jason. I purchase and paid in advance sod. I paid $15 for the deliver of it plus topsoil and mulch. When they delivered it the sod was yellow instead of green. The driver told me not to worry that would come back with watering. They delivered 3 extra rolls just in case. Well, after two day I put down the topsoil/sod=, the sod was completely dead not withstanding watering it 3 times a day.
After trying to get in touch with the Jason for almost a week, he refused to have someone delivering the replacement sod. They have lost a very valuable customer, since I used to refer a lot of people to them! n VEr disappointed in the poor customer service they have provided me. I have also noticed a decline in the quality of their fruit. I bought some strawberries. The next day were completely rutten. I had to through them all away!
Whatever you do, do not pay in advance! Check you deliver before you pay! I will stop payment on the...
Read moreI took my family to Home Depot to buy a Christmas tree. They had a good inventory of larger Frazier fur trees which is what we try and get every year due to the beauty and sturdiness of the branches. The prices were $54.99 for 7-8 ft, $69.99 for 8-9 ft, and $99 for 9-10ft. There was no one around and you have to load your own tree and secure it yourself for the ride home. We decided to check the trees at Vince's to see if the price was worth supporting a local business. Vince's had a large inventory of trees that were on display on stands fully shown and easy to check out (Home Depot were stacked and wrapped in nets unless you pulled them out and cut the net off). We chose a 7ft tree and paid $70 which is about what Home Depot charged. However, the staff at Vince's netted it and carried to our car and secured it with sturdy string to our van's roof. We also added a fresh wreath that was decorated with a beautiful bow and ornaments. Vince's really feels...
