Alabama Chanin — Local services in Florence

My wife, no doubt, would say that she "loves" this place. I love the idea of what they're doing and how they are approaching fashion in a small Alabama town, but I wouldn't necessarily say I loved it all.

This review is primarily about the food offerings. We had lunch here and everything tasted good, was thoughtfully prepared, and unique for the area. We got a "BBQ Chicken Salad" sandwich - but I really couldn't taste any smokiness that I would associate with BBQ. The salad we had was good. There was an interesting beer selection, but a lot of it was from out of state. I would think that with the surge of craft-brews that have popped up around Alabama in the past few years, that there would be a more robust local selection here (there's not).

Water is self-serve. Good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Nice...

The Factory Cafe catered my wedding and was absolutely terrible. They showed up almost an hour and half later than setup time. My guests had to stand outside the reception space for over 30 minutes and wait for the food to be unloaded and set up. Guests and the bridal party actually had to assist with set up. Despite the fact that catering arrived 45 minutes after the dinner service time on the contract, they attempted to leave early and take the significant amount of leftover food and drinks with them that was paid for. It is far from ideal to have 2 hours left at your reception and no water. They also did absolutely no clean up on the backend. Terrible experience. Highly disappointed and would...

I’m so grateful this place exists! This is some of the best food in the area…or any area. I have eaten here countless times and I’m always impressed by my meal. If I have friends visit from out of town, this is where I take them…and no matter what foodie city they live in, they’re always amazed by their meal. Anything you order will be made with fresh, local ingredients and prepared beautifully. The environment is beautiful too! I always end up spending as much time looking through the shop as I do eating at the café....
