I have been frequenting this place since I was brought here as a child by my grandparents. It holds find memories for me. I bring my kids here often. This is level non agreasiyand I believe is disabled accessible as well. The stine shelter is original except for a roof replacement periodically and was built in the thirties by the CCC during the second world war for use as a lookout to spot japanese ships. Historically the trail featured more signage which has been rendered missing either by the ravages of time of vandalism. And there was even once a totem pole placed there in the eighties which was subsequently stolen the remnants of which can still be seen as made evident by the remaining stub still sticking out if the ground in the lookout adjacent to the parking area. Parking is limited in the summer and is subject to fees. The trail is a shorter version of the one from when I was a kid providing a shorter loop, probably due to the accessibility upgrade. 10/10 making it a family tradition...
Read moreAll I can say is if you don't go here and check it out you're going to be sorry that you missed it. I took lots of pictures but it doesn't really give you the effect as when you're in person. Hope you're not scared of heights. Parking is really close to the attraction and there is a bathroom. If you like to walk on a trail in the woods there's a little pull off to the right just before the parking lot and if you park there you can walk the trail right into the woods. That in itself is amazing too because you're all the way at the top of a mountain. I don't get to walk down trails on tops of mountains very often, so it was really cool. Again, that's before the big parking lot at the top. I hope you enjoy your visit and be safe! *NO WATER access for drinking, so make sure you bring some for you...
Read moreAbsolutely a stunning area. Some of the campsites are lovely -- nice and secluded. The reason I gave four stars is some of the campsites are right on top of each other. I mean, I've camped a lot, and I've never seen campsites so exposed and so close to the next ones. Luckily, the campground manager bent the rules for us and allowed us to switch sites. The other reason I gave four stars is that the campsites are a bit small. They do the job, but I wouldn't feel comfortable camping in the site we ended up with with more than maybe three people. It was very comfortable with two, however. I also really enjoyed hearing the sound of a rushing river in the night. The trails are great. There are a number of sites to check out nearby....
