This is arguably the best view of the Oregon coast that is the easiest to access. Simply drive to the top! There is a parking area, and they have pit toilets. There are several hiking trails around Cape Perpetua. Each hike is unique in their own way. If you’re just in it for the view, drive straight to the top and hit the rock fort. For the true outdoorsman, I’d recommend the Amanda trail. Being the longest, it is usually the most secluded and peaceful. The trail takes you inland and features a beautiful forest hike with plenty of birds and wildlife(if you’re quiet enough) before taking you up to the rock fort. Mushrooms, salmon berries, and Oregon red raspberries can be found aplenty the right time of year. If you’re looking for a quick hike, the trail up from the visitor center is always the most populated. Crowded with tourists and locals jogging with their dogs. Although, it features some great views of the ocean. There are picnic tables at the top, and several places that you could easily improvise a picnic with a beautiful view of woodland ridge lines shooting straight into the ocean. This is a must see for anybody...
Read moreThe way the waves came crashing down against the jagged beach front inspired me but more then that it reminded me of something. I was unable to put my finger on it at first but the longer i stayed the closer i got. After what felt like hours i finally came to the conclusion the the continuous crashing down of the waves reminded me of life. What i found was not purrly based on the waves, i finally noticed that the rocks resembled life, how everything can crash down on you and you dont know how you arent breaking but just like this rocky beachfront we dont break we continue to endure and push back even when it feel like we are at the mercy of them. Lastly it showed me even though we may be feeling the full force of the waves we have a option, unlike the rocks we are able to get up and move. We can change the situation, we can live our lives outside the box, and we dont have...
Read moreExcellent spot. Gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. Big difference here between high tide and low tide (which can be said at many other Oregon beaches as well). Cape Perpetua is known as a spot with pretty violent waves crashing onto the rocks at high tide. At low tide you'll see much more of the rocks and much more of it is accessible. If you're coming to access the places and such, then come at low tide. If you're coming to see the Violent Waves crashing against the rocks and the other features, as I did, come at high tide. Whoever left a one-star review of this place and complained there was too much water has no business ever going near an ocean. It's an ocean, of course there's lots of water. Maybe he should visit Death Valley instead; it's absolutely gorgeous but there is no water (most...
