Update 7/20/21: Upgraded my rating from 1 star to 4 star. The granite is finally done. This has been a long (4/30/21 - 7/19/21) and at times frustrating process. However, now that it is installed we could not be happier with the final product. Got a call from Kevin (the installer) on Sunday night asking if he could come do the install Monday afternoon. Of course, we said yes. I will say Kevin and his brother did an amazing job on the install. They were very professional and meticulous. The shape of our kitchen presented a challenge with the type of granite we chose but Kevin and Kelly (Hoods) were able to figure it out and make the color flow almost perfectly. They arrived at our place around 2:00 and stayed until the job was done close to 7:00pm. I will post pictures soon but I just wanted to update my review now that the job is done. I was (and still am) disappointed it took so long but i am so glad we had Kevin and his brother do the install. So much so that I am going to ask that they come do some work on another property of ours. thanks guys.

Update 7/1/21:

Still no granite installed. Still no scheduled date from the installer. I did receive a call from the manager at Hoods which I very much appreciated. The problem is he does not control the installer. I was told over a week ago (probably closer to two weeks ago) that the measurements had been delivered to the shop so the granite could be cut, so I thought we were making progress. Then on Friday, June 25th, I called Kelly in the shop to inquire about when the granite would be finished cutting. He informed me that he still did not have the measurements. He stated that the installer had not delivered them like I had been told. I am trying to be positive about all this but I only get more and more frustrated every day. When I finally get it all installed, I will update this review with a complete timeline and names so IF you decide to use Hoods you will at least know what to expect.

Know before you buy... Over the years we have purchased many items from Hoods and have been extremely pleased with their selection and customer service. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for our most recent granite purchase. Let me preface this review with the fact that Hoods told us up front that they did not install but they did have recommended installers. The first installer we contacted came out and measured but when it came time to actually schedule the install he fell off the radar. Had a hard time reaching him and when we did he would not show up at the agreed times. So we called Hoods and they recommended a different installer. Again, he was quick to come out and measure but getting an actual install date has been a challenge. We are currently at a month and seven days from the time he measured and don't have even a tentative date.

Tried calling Hoods to see if they could help and was just told, we only sell the granite you have to deal with the installers on your own.

So just know before you buy, Hoods is only going to sell you the granite, they are not going to do anything to help with the installation process. If I had known the process was going to go this way, I would have most likely purchased the granite from someone that had their own installers.

My first visit to this place of business in Foley on Hwy 59, and West Sycamore. Outside this huge business appears to be a landscapers paradise; cement blocks, river rock, fencing and all types of material to be used outside to give you that perfect look and design. Then you walk into the HUGE showroom with everything you need, or could hope for to completely re-do the inside of your Castle; lamps, tables, chairs, pictures, tile, and so much more, including lawn, and Patio furniture! Just be prepared to spend your I want this now, dollars! A lot of the furniture; rocking chairs, tables stools, and just reclining chairs of wood appear to be custom made. Plan on spending a lot of time at Hoods Home Center; it's worth the stop! As you are leaving the store you are greeted by one of the largest statues I've even seen! Shout out to the team at Hood's for connecting us to Creative Dreamscapes Plus, Llc out of Pensacola, Florida. Ken Mathis and his team are expanding into Elberta and did an amazing job helping us redesign our entry way, our back patio, and our pool area to take care of drainage issues we were having. Our new pavers came from Hood's and the combination of material from Hood's and Ken's team were amazing. Our pool drains from the rains better than it ever has, the new backyard patio includes a small fenced in area of our dog Annie, and the new entry way was a necessity because of damage done with Hurricane Sally.
